Patent number: 10785961Abstract: A perch extension for a bird feeder having an elongated perch body that defines a cavity that is adapted to fit at least partially over a perch on a bird feeder. The perch extension may optionally have a support member that is coupled to the perch body, and is further adapted to fit at least partially around the seed container of the bird feeder. The perch extension may optionally define protuberances to provide a snap-fit or press-fit engagement with the bird feeder perch.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2018Date of Patent: September 29, 2020Assignee: Classic Brands, LLCInventors: Robert Donegan, Scott Colwell, Betsy Puckett, Stephen Combs, Lindsey Nifong, Scott Merritt

Publication number: 20150264959Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing shaved frozen products and a method for storing and dispensing frozen products are provided. The apparatus for dispensing shaved frozen product includes: a dispensing area; and a refrigerated area having: a plurality of shaving units; and a platform, operatively connected to each of the plurality of shaving units and configured to allow each shaving unit to rotate. The method for dispensing frozen products includes: providing a plurality of frozen blocks to a plurality of shaving units; selecting at least one of the frozen blocks to be shaved; rotating a carousel to align a shaving unit of the plurality of shaving units with a dispensing area; and dispensing a predetermined portion of the selected frozen block.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2013Publication date: September 24, 2015Inventors: Scott Colwell, Richard Dobrowney

Patent number: 8863690Abstract: A feed dispenser includes a housing and a piston assembly. The piston assembly includes a piston disposed within the housing, the piston and the housing configured to translate relative to each other, and a sheath. The sheath extends about the piston and spring and defines a feed volume with the housing. The feed volume configured to receive feed from a housing chamber of the housing in response to the relative translation of the piston and the housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2013Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: Droll Yankees, Inc.Inventors: Michael Podmaniczky, Scott A. Patent number: 7946248Abstract: An elongated, tubular bird feeder comprising one or more pairs of interlocking feeder ports, where the feeder ports are of identical constructions, such that each feeder port mates with an identical feeder port. Each port defines an external perch and an external shield that is curved to fit the contour of the tube, a neck which fits tightly into an opening in the tube, and a reduced diameter portion that defines an end face, from which projects two interlocking features: a horizontally-oriented blade member; and a vertically-oriented generally sector-shaped member. When two ports are pushed together into diametrically-opposed side openings in the tube, with end faces located proximate one another, the two sector members will be located adjacent one another to define an essentially semi-circular upper region, and the two blades will be located next to one another to define an essentially horizontal blade member.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2009Date of Patent: May 24, 2011Assignee: Droll YankeesInventors: Scott A. Colwell, John Walsh

Publication number: 20110100299Abstract: The invention provides a user-configurable perch for a bird feeder. The perch comprises four generally “U”-shaped or “C”-shaped lobes arranged in a generally circular loop, where the loop provides the surface onto which the birds perch. The loop is coupled to a central plate by four support members, which serve to separate the center plate from the loop. The perch is coupled to the bird feeder with a fastener inserted through a hole in the center plate. The perch may be coupled to a bird feeder in one of two configurations. In a first configuration, the loop is positioned below the bottom surface of the bird feeder to accommodate larger birds. In a second configuration, the loop is positioned, above the bottom surface of the bird feeder to discourage larger birds and cater to smaller birds.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2010Publication date: May 5, 2011Applicant: Droll Yankees, Inc.Inventor: Scott A.
