  • Publication number: 20260083403
Abstract: Reinforced surgical table mattresses or pads and methods of manufacture are disclosed. A layer of polymeric foam can be inserted into a shell formed from one or more sheets of flexible polymeric film material laminated to a fabric and welded together to create a water-proof shell. At least one layer of hotmelt glue film can be positioned inside the shell between the bottom side of the foam and the fabric of the shell. Heat can be applied to the outside of the shell at a temperature above the melting point of the hotmelt glue film and below that of the shell material, melting the glue film and bonding the fabric of the shell to an adjacent layer of material when cooled.

  • Patent number: 12496245
Abstract: A patient securing overlay includes a sheet of fabric configured to support a patient's torso on a surgical table. The sheet of fabric includes friction enhancing elements applied to at least a portion of an upper surface. The sheet of fabric is attached near its side edges to two or more side flaps that extend laterally outward from the side edges of the sheet of fabric. Each of the side flaps is attached to the surgical table at two or more attachment points. A distance between adjacent attachment points is greater than a distance between an attachment point and the sheet of fabric in order to naturally create a favorable retaining force vector angle of less than 45° between the attachment point and the sheet of fabric.

  • Patent number: 12383671
Abstract: A fluid extravasation detection device detects the subcutaneous extravasation of fluid from a vein containing an intravenous (IV) catheter. The device includes one or more first temperature sensors for positioning on skin near an entry point of the IV catheter into the vein, and one or more second temperature sensors for positioning on skin near a tip of the subcutaneously located IV catheter. The first and second temperature sensors are operably connected to an electronic thermometer that compares the temperature difference between a first temperature and a second temperature. The first temperature is determined based on temperature detected by at least one of the one or more first temperature sensors. The second temperature is determined based on temperature detected by at least one of the one or more second temperature sensors. An alarm is activated if the difference between the first and second temperatures changes more than a predetermined amount.

  • Publication number: 20250165922
Abstract: System, methods and apparatus related to surgical sponges and surgical sponge counting and detection systems. The system, methods and apparatus may include features such as a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) scanner adapted to detect entry and exit of a surgical sponge RFID identifier associated with each of a plurality of surgical sponges. In addition, an Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) scanner may be included that is adapted to detect the presence of a surgical sponge having an EAS identifier associated with each of the plurality of surgical sponges. A control circuit may be configured to determine and provide an indication that all the sponges have been removed from the patient, or that one or more sponges still remain in the patient.
