  • Patent number: 5377808
Abstract: A motor-driven door release mechanism for an electronic totalizer of a coin-receiving mechanism operatively associated with a newspaper vending machine. The motor is energized by a power supply acting through a totalizer control board and is disengaged upon rotation to a predetermined position by a rotor arm connected to the armature of the electric motor to disable the current line from the totalizer control board to the motor. Approximately simultaneously with disengaging the motor, a lift arm attached to the rotor arm releases the door latch control of the newspaper vending machine.

  • Patent number: 5360093
Abstract: A method and apparatus to control the selective opening of one of a multiple of door accessible newspaper vending cabinets (6a-6e) through a single vend control mechanism (7). The method provides for signaling a selected door from a multiple of doors (18a-18e) to unlock when the proper total denomination of coins or monetary credits has been inserted into the vend control mechanism (7). The apparatus provides for an electronic coin totalizer (14) and/or a bill acceptor (16), and/or a debit/credit card acceptor (17), and a central processing unit (CPU) (10) to receive and process signals relating to total monies received into the vend control mechanism (7) and to selectively unlock one of a multiple of door-accessible cabinets (6a-6e), the cabinets containing different newspapers.

  • Patent number: 4684055
Abstract: A method for soldering the underside of a substrate between leads. A paste of solder emulsified in a flux material is printed onto a carrier and film. The paste is adhered to the film by drying or reflowing before being placed onto the substrate between the projecting leads. The substrate and film are then heated. The molten solder having an affinity for plated surface areas of the substrate and no affinity for the polyimide film transfers and self-aligns to the plated surfaces of the substrate. The method allows selective soldering of the underside surface of a substrate having leads without soldering these leads, or selective soldering of some plated areas of a substrate while leaving other plated areas free of solder.
