  • Patent number: 9112926
Abstract: A content recommendation apparatus and method gives users a peer-to-peer, highly personal way to discover new content by being introduced to one or more similar users. A similar user is a user that has a correlation to another user based on their preferences and behaviors (e.g., downloaded content, frequency of use, content currently have on device, browsing behaviors, content organizational habits, etc.). A catalog of content, or a designated portion thereof, can be used at least in part for finding matches and for identifying content to suggest to another. Data about user behavior can serve to connect the user to similar individuals for the purpose of discovering new content.

  • Patent number: 6449492
Abstract: A wireless communication device (100) includes a manual input device (120, 122), a key lock memory (108), and a key lock processor (104). The processor (104) accesses user-programmable parameters stored in the memory (108) that define conditions for automatically disabling and also enabling commands to be issued from the manual input device (120, 122). When the processor (104) determines that the disabling condition has been met, the manual input device (120, 122) is automatically disabled, and will remain disabled until the enabling condition is met. The wireless communication device (100) may further include a timer (130) to measure elapsed time, and a display (124) to show a label indicating the status of the manual input device (120, 122). The manual input device (120, 122) of the wireless communication device (100) may be either, or both, a conventional keypad (120) or a dual-function rotatable switch (122).

  • Patent number: 6449496
Abstract: A method and apparatus providing a user interface within a phone that responds to a limited vocabulary of user trained voice commands. The interface allows users to perform all phone handset dialing functions using voice commands. Additionally, users will be able to create and modify entries within a voice recognition phonebook, whereby a number within the voice recognition phonebook can be called by saying the name associated with the number. The user interface provides a combination of voice and LCD displayed user prompts and responses to voice input. The interface responds to user voice commands and performs the command functions based upon matches to previously user trained voice command vocabulary words stored in memory.

  • Patent number: 6321098
Abstract: A wireless communication device provides streamlined access to recording functions that allow a user to readily record information from a called directory information service provider or other predetermined number. Directory service provider numbers and other predetermined numbers are stored in the system and compared with a user selected destination telephone number. If a match is detected, the system display automatically enables a recording function or prompts the user to manually activate the recording function to permit the user to manually record information obtained from the directory information service provider. Alternatively, the information may be automatically transferred directly into the system without user intervention through a communication link using a formatted data exchange. The system includes options for editing the recorded information, permanently storing the recorded information, and completing a call to the telephone number provided by the service.
