  • Patent number: 9286705
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for displaying an area of wireless-telecommunications coverage of a geographic region by a plurality of images is provided. In embodiments, an image representing an amount of wireless-telecommunications coverage for a geographic region is referenced. A plurality of image data points, including corners, is mapped to real-world geographic coordinates to create a registered image. A plurality of colors, each representing a different wireless-telecommunications coverage area, is identified. A second image is created that includes only pixels associated with selected colors and, thus, only represents the wireless-telecommunications coverage areas associated with the selected colors.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 20, 2012
Date of Patent: March 15, 2016
    Assignee: Sprint Communications Company L.P.
Inventors: Rickey Jack Haught, John Patrick Kullman, Mark Anthony Martin, Scott D. Boxberger

  • Patent number: 7643936
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for analyzing drive test data in conjunction with geographical data such as population distribution, geographical data as to wireless device usage, location of high-value customers, or other geographical data. The results of the analysis are reported to a human operator, such as a manager overseeing the drive test routes in a particular region. The results enable the operator to revise drive test routes, or select new routes, that provide improved measurement data for the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 7107037
Abstract: Channel elements at a cell site in wireless network are managed by reserving a portion of the channel elements for handling certain types of calls for which the reserved channel elements are capable of handling. At least some of the non-reserved channel elements will typically lack the capabilities of the reserved channel elements, due to there being previous generation or older technology. For example, in a cell cite having both 3G and 2G channel elements, a percentage of the 3G channel elements, such as 15 percent, are reserved for certain types of calls, such as 3G data call origination and 3G voice hand-ins. These are types of calls that the 2G channel elements do not support. The remaining 3G channel elements are not reserved. If the non-reserved channel elements are fully utilized, the reserved channel elements may, or may not, be released for general usage so as to prevent a blocking of calls, depending on quality of service considerations for the site.
