  • Publication number: 20250230812
Abstract: A scroll device includes a scroll with a gland seat extending into an involute of the scroll. The gland seat includes a recess defining a first wall, a second wall, and a flat section arranged between the first wall and the second wall. A first radiused corner is interconnected to the first wall and the flat section, and a second radiused corner is interconnected to the second wall and the flat section. The first radiused corner and the second radiused corner are separated by the flat section. A gland seat seal, including a backup seal portion and a tip seal portion, is arranged to couple with the gland seat. The backup seal portion is rounded and arranged inside the gland seat contacting the flat section, while the tip seal portion is arranged at least partially in the first gland seat and in contact with a surface of an opposing scroll.

  • Publication number: 20250188928
Abstract: A crankshaft assembly for a scroll device includes a crankshaft that operatively connects to an orbiting scroll of the scroll device by way of an interstitial crank pin. A body portion of the crank pin is attached to the orbiting scroll and a protrusion portion of the crank pin is inserted into an inner portion of a crank bearing that is attached to the crankshaft. The arrangement of the crank pin between the orbiting scroll and the crank bearing of the crankshaft assembly ensure that the crankshaft and crank bearing are coupled to the orbiting scroll without the crank bearing and the orbiting scroll contacting one another. The interstitial arrangement of the crank pin defines a heat conduction path that prevents heat from passing between the orbiting scroll and the crank bearing without first passing through a thermal zone of the crank pin.

  • Patent number: 11067080
Abstract: A low cost scroll device and methods of manufacturing the same are described. The scroll device includes, for example, a drive pin hole and bearing bores machined into a scroll of the scroll device from the same side as the involute of the scroll; idler shaft assemblies with no more than one bearing in the orbiting scroll for mechanically coupling the orbiting scroll to the fixed scroll; and an epoxy coating applied using a process that requires assembly of the scroll device only once.
