  • Patent number: 6999962
Abstract: A web-based shared document repository includes recommender system functions to allow users of the repository to input reviews of documents contained in the repository and to read inputted reviews. The recommender system functions appear as a seamless integration in the document repository by loosely coupling the shared document repository to a web-based recommender system.

  • Patent number: 6925281
Abstract: Method and apparatus for finishing a receiver sheet or similar substrate by providing a protective coating on the receiver sheet for the benefit of, for example, protecting an image resident thereon. Such coating is created by applying and fusing a mixture containing a transparent, abrasion-resistant toner resin, and optionally components such as a light-fast material, to the receiver sheet.

  • Patent number: 6640075
Abstract: An apparatus for developing a latent image recorded on an imaging surface with toner, including: a developer housing including a reservoir for storing a supply of toner; a donor member for transporting toner on an outer surface of the donor member to a development zone; a purging system, adjacent to the donor member, for removing toner the donor member and the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 6385429
Abstract: A resonator for applying vibrational energy to a member, for example a photoreceptor belt or developer/donor member, includes an energy transmitting horn member having a platform portion and a horn portion, the horn portion including a contacting portion for contacting a surface of the member, and a piezoelectric material in association with the horn member for driving the horn member to vibrate, the piezoelectric material responsive to a voltage signal from a voltage source. The piezoelectric material is a composite of at least one piezoceramic material and at least one of a polymer or air, and has a 1-3 configuration. By the selection of a piezoceramic/polymer composite material having the specified configuration for use as the vibratory energy producing source, or transducer, of a resonator, improved piezoelectric material performance is achieved, particularly with respect to control and/or elimination of undesired transverse vibration, and manufacturing complexity is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6308032
Abstract: A rotatable charging apparatus includes a length extending between a first end and a second end, with the rotatable charging apparatus centered about an axis parallel to the length. The rotatable charging apparatus outer periphery forms N apparatus positions. One charging device is fixed to each of N−1 apparatus positions. The remaining (Nth) apparatus position is devoid of a charging device, thus forming an “empty” charging device position. A host printing machine selectively causes the rotatable charging apparatus to rotate about its axis thereby selectively position any of its N−1 charging devices to face a proximately-located photosensitive element. When a problem exists with the current charging device, or when the total number of operating hours of the current charging device exceeds a fixed threshold, the printing machine causes the rotatable charging apparatus to rotate from its current charging device to position a new charging device facing the photosensitive element.

  • Patent number: 5921522
Abstract: A utility box positioning fixture provides a box holding device onto which a utility box may be easily placed and held relative to the fixture. A set of jaw and spacer bars are mounted onto a vertically held support bar, the width of the jaw and spacer bars establishing the horizontal position of the utility box relative to a horizontal stringer and a vertical stud of a wall structure. With the utility box positioned against the side surface of the stud, and with the jaw bars positioned against the front face of the stud, the box is positioned for mounting and therefore may be accurately fastened into place on the stud.
