Patent number: 11922668Abstract: A set of user interface tools is described facilitating asynchronous adjudication of one or more regions-of-interest in a medical image by a group of two or more graders, each of which has access to the set of tools in a workstation environment. The set of tools include (1) a feature for enabling the graders to assess the medical image and manually delineate one or more specific regions-of-interest (ROI) in the medical image, (2) a feature for assessing the ROI(s) delineated by other graders, including display of the ROI delineated by other graders; (3) dialog features for explaining and discussing the assessments, including a text feature for discussing the assessments. The dialog features and the ROIs delineated by all the graders are visible to all the graders on the workstation display as they collectively adjudicate the medical image in a round-robin manner. The set of tools further include (4) a feature for manually verifying grader agreement with the other graders' assessments.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2021Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Rebecca Ackermann, William Chen, Thad Hughes, Teagan Daly, Scott McKinney, Rory Sayres, Quang Duong, Jacob Stimes, Eric Lindley, Cristhian Cruz, Beverly Freeman

Publication number: 20240048932Abstract: An apparatus and method of generating personalized HRTFs. The system is prepared by calculating a model for HRTFs described as the relationship between a finite example set of input data, namely anthropometric measures and demographic information for a set of individuals, and a corresponding set of output data, namely HRTFs numerically simulated using a high-resolution database of 3D scans of the same set of individuals. At the time of use, the system queries the user for their demographic information, and then from a series of images of the user, the system detects and measures various anthropometric characteristics. The system then applies the prepared model to the anthropometric and demographic data as part of generating a personalized HRTF. In this manner, the personalized HRTF can be generated with more convenience than by performing a high-resolution scan or an acoustic measurement of the user, and with less computational complexity than by numerically simulating their HRTF.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2023Publication date: February 8, 2024Applicant: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: McGregor Steele JOYNER, Alex BRANDMEYER, Scott DALY, Jeffrey Ross BAKER, Andrea FANELLI, Poppy Anne Carrie CRUM

Patent number: 11887560Abstract: A handheld imaging device has a data receiver that is configured to receive reference encoded image data. The data includes reference code values, which are encoded by an external coding system. The reference code values represent reference gray levels, which are being selected using a reference grayscale display function that is based on perceptual non-linearity of human vision adapted at different light levels to spatial frequencies. The imaging device also has a data converter that is configured to access a code mapping between the reference code values and device-specific code values of the imaging device. The device-specific code values are configured to produce gray levels that are specific to the imaging device. Based on the code mapping, the data converter is configured to transcode the reference encoded image data into device-specific image data, which is encoded with the device-specific code values.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2022Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Jon Scott Miller, Scott Daly, Mahdi Nezamabadi, Robin Atkins

Patent number: 11863839Abstract: A method for delivering media to a playback device including outputting first test media to be viewed by a first user. The method further includes receiving a first user input related to a first perception of the first test media by the first user and indicating a first personalized quality of experience of the first user with respect to the first test media. The method further includes generating a first personalized sensitivity profile including one or more viewing characteristics of the first user based on the first user input, and determining, based at least in part on the first personalized sensitivity profile, a first media parameter. The first media parameter is determined in order to increase an efficiency of media delivery to the first playback device over a network while preserving the first personalized quality of experience of the first user.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2020Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Doh-Suk Kim, Sean Thomas McCarthy, Scott Daly, Jeffrey Riedmiller, Ludovic Christophe Malfait, Raphael Marc Ullmann, Jason Michael Cloud

Patent number: 11776099Abstract: Methods and systems for generating an image quality metric are described. A reference and a test image are first converted to the ITP color space. After calculating difference images ?I, ?T, and ?P, using the color channels of the two images, the difference images are convolved with low pass filters, one for the I channel and one for the chroma channels (I or P). The image quality metric is computed as a function of the sum of squares of filtered ?I, ?T, and ?P values. The chroma low-pass filter is designed to maximize matching the image quality metric with subjective results.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2021Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Robert Wanat, Robin Atkins, Anustup Kumar Atanu Choudhury, Scott Daly, Jaclyn Anne Pytlarz

Publication number: 20230282183Abstract: One or more media contents are received. A viewer's light adaptive states are predicted as a function of time as if the viewer is watching display mapped images derived from the one or more media contents. The viewer's light adaptive states are used to detect an excessive change in luminance in a specific media content portion of the one or more media contents. The excessive change in luminance in the specific media content portion of the one or more media contents is caused to be reduced while the viewer is watching one or more corresponding display mapped images derived from the specific media content portion of the one or more media contents.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2023Publication date: September 7, 2023Applicant: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Alexandre CHAPIRO, Robin ATKINS, Scott DALY

Publication number: 20230262287Abstract: Creative intent input describing emotion expectations and narrative information relating to media content is received. Expected physiologically observable states relating to the media content are generated based on the creative intent input. An audiovisual content signal with the media content and media metadata comprising the physiologically observable states is provided to a playback apparatus. The audiovisual content signal causes the playback device to use physiological monitoring signals to determine, with respect to a viewer, assessed physiologically observable states relating to the media content and generate, based on the expected physiologically observable states and the assessed physiologically observable states, modified media content to be rendered to the viewer.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2023Publication date: August 17, 2023Applicant: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Scott DALY, Poppy Anne Carrie CRUM, Evan David GITTERMAN, Shane Mario RUGGIERI
