  • Patent number: 6970734
Abstract: A catheter assembly comprises a catheter shaft having a first region and a second region. The first region is less radiopaque than the second region. The first region is constructed of a shaft material and the second region is constructed from the shaft material in combination with at least one radiopaque material. At least a portion of the shaft material of the second region defines at least one grooved region. The at least one radiopaque material is positioned at least partially within the at least one grooved region.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 2, 2002
Date of Patent: November 29, 2005
    Assignee: Boston Scientific SciMed, Inc.
Inventors: Tracee E. J. Eidenschink, Scott E. Arndt, Brian J. Brown, Melissa Ann Frenkel

  • Patent number: 6623689
Abstract: Method and apparatus for sequentially forming, wrapping and compressing a catheter balloon either during the initial manufacturing process or after a medical procedure. The balloon may be formed, wrapped and compressed by simply advancing the balloon through a balloon wrapping tool and selectively inflating and deflating the balloon therein. The balloon wrapping tool preferably includes a flap forming bore, a flap wrapping bore and a flap compression bore which form, wrap and compress the balloon, respectively, when the balloon is advanced therethrough.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 17, 2001
Date of Patent: September 23, 2003
    Assignee: SciMed Life Systems, Inc.
Inventors: Richard J. Traxler, Brent C. Gerberding, Scott E. Arndt, Tracee E. J. Eidenschink
  • Publication number: 20030125711
Abstract: A catheter having a catheter lumen defined by a catheter wall wherein at least a portion of the catheter wall has at least one radiopaque member. The at least one radiopaque member comprises a body and a weakened portion. The body has a body length, a body thickness and a body circumference. The weakened portion is defined by the body and has a weakened portion length, a weakened portion thickness and a weakened portion width, the weakened portion thickness being less than the body thickness.
