  • Patent number: 10765815
Abstract: A pneumatically activated retractable-needle syringe comprising a syringe barrel, a plunger, a needle, a needle hub, a locking tip, a propellant gas release cell and a rupture mechanism is provided. The plunger has a retraction lumen defined therein for receiving the needle when the retractable-needle syringe is actuated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 2015
Date of Patent: September 8, 2020
    Assignee: L.O.M. Laboratories Inc.
Inventors: Scott E. Castanon, Ralph E. Woloschuk, Warren Marc Terry
  • Patent number: 10709847
Abstract: A modular retractable needle assembly having a unitary propellant release structure is provided. The modular retractable needle assembly can be coupled to a suitable syringe. A modular filler needle can be provided that is engageable to the syringe. Kits comprising the modular retractable needle assembly, one or more syringes, and a modular filler needle are provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 19, 2016
Date of Patent: July 14, 2020
    Assignee: L.O.M. Laboratories Inc.
Inventors: Ralph E. Woloschuk, Scott E. Castanon, Warren Marc Terry
  • Patent number: 10463291
Abstract: Blood collection devices having a retractable needle are provided. Activation of the retraction mechanism causes release of propellant from a propellant chamber, which drives a retraction assembly carrying the needle into a body of the device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 18, 2016
Date of Patent: November 5, 2019

  • Patent number: 10195364
Abstract: A gas release cell for use with pneumatically actuated sharps-containing medical devices. The gas release cell has a rigid outer shell and a sealing membrane sealingly engaged with the rigid outer shell. A compressed propellant is retained within the gas release cell by the sealing membrane, and the sealing membrane is rupturable to actuate the medical device by releasing compressed propellant from the gas release cell.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 26, 2014
Date of Patent: February 5, 2019
    Assignee: L.O.M. Laboratories Inc.

  • Publication number: 20170239425
Abstract: A pneumatically activated retractable-needle syringe comprising a syringe barrel, a plunger, a needle, a needle hub, a locking tip, a propellant gas release cell and a rupture mechanism is provided. The plunger is slidably disposed within and sealingly engaged with the syringe barrel, the plunger having a retraction lumen defined for receiving a needle when the retractable-needle syringe is actuated. The needle is coupled to a distal end of the syringe barrel and in fluid communication with a medicament chamber defined within the syringe barrel distally of the plunger. The needle hub is for securing the needle at the distal end of the syringe barrel, the needle hub being initially secured within a false wall against a loading force or an injection force applied by a user, and releasable from the false wall in response to a post-injection force applied by a user.
