  • Patent number: 11739509
Abstract: A method adjusts a regulated temperature in a faucet that includes a spout, a faucet body, a hot water valve and a cold water valve. The method includes regulating a maximum water temperature of water provided to the spout using a thermostatic valve cartridge to add cold water that bypasses the cold water valve to the water provided to the spout as a function of water temperature inside the thermostatic valve cartridge. The thermostatic valve cartridge is affixed to the faucet body and external access to the thermostatic valve cartridge is inhibited by at least one element. The method also includes removing the at least one element to expose at least a portion of a thermostatic valve cartridge, and rotating a rotatable portion of the thermostatic valve cartridge to adjust the regulated maximum water temperature.

  • Publication number: 20220205556
Abstract: A temperature protection system includes a thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) and a check valve assembly. The TMV is operably coupled to provide temperature controlled water to a faucet. The check valve assembly is coupled between the TMV and a source of water. The check valve assembly has a check valve body, a check valve element, and a ball valve. The check valve body has a check valve receiving tube, a water inlet tube and an outlet tube. The water inlet tube defines a water inlet to the check valve body, and the outlet tube forms a water outlet to the check valve body. The check valve element is disposed within the check valve receiving tube and interposed at least in part between the outlet tube and the water inlet. The ball valve disposed in the inlet tube between the check valve element and the water inlet.

  • Patent number: 10487482
Abstract: A valve assembly for a faucet assembly includes a housing, a thermal motor and a sealing element. The housing includes a first inlet that receives water from a first source, a spout outlet in fluid connection with the first inlet, and a second inlet that receives water from a second source. The thermal motor is within the housing and imparts linear force in an axial direction. The sealing element is operably coupled to move in response to the imparted linear force, and is configured to engage a seating element to form a seal between the second inlet and the spout outlet. The seating element is disposed axially between the motor and the sealing element, and movement of the sealing element in the axial direction breaks the formed seal to allow fluid flow within the housing between the second inlet and the spout outlet.

  • Patent number: 9732866
Abstract: A faucet includes a mixing chamber, a bypass chamber, a hot water actuator, a cold water actuator, and a valve assembly. The mixing chamber is in fluid communication with a spout. The bypass chamber is operably coupled to a source of cold water. The cold water actuator is operably coupled to provide, upon actuation, cold water to the mixing chamber. The hot water actuator is operably coupled to provide, upon actuation, hot water to the mixing chamber. The valve assembly has a seal configured to move in a direction away from the spout responsive to a temperature of water in the mixing chamber exceeding a threshold, such that fluid connection is provided between the bypass chamber and the mixing chamber.
