  • Patent number: 8073866
Abstract: A method of providing content from an internet server to an internet user based on the user's internet navigation history. The method begins with the step of installing a profile decoder, including a profile library, on the server. The profile decoder maps server content to content categories contained in the profile library. The server then receives a communication from a user then in internet communication with the server, at least a portion of that communication including an encrypted summary of user navigation history. The server then processes the user communication in the profile decoder to identify user content preferences by matching user content preferences with available server content, employing the profile server. Finally, the server provides content to the user based on the user's identified preferences.

  • Publication number: 20060242587
Abstract: In one embodiment, a client computer receives messages from a server computer over a computer network. The messages are displayed in the client computer based on preference settings that may be configured by end-users. This advantageously gives end-users some control over messages provided to them. In one embodiment, end-users configure the preference settings to specify the number of messages they can be shown within a period time, when to display messages relative to the loading of a web page, and/or where to display messages. Embodiments of the present invention may be used in a variety of applications including in the delivery of advertisements over the Internet.

  • Publication number: 20060136524
Abstract: The present invention relates to summarizing cross-network user behavioral data and further relates to restoring damaged data structures, either data structures summarizing cross-network user behavioral data or data structures remotely identifying to logic running on a user computer. The summarizing cross-network user behavioral data may particularly include publishing the data to one or more data structures that become accessible to a server hosting an authorized domain when a user accesses the authorized domain. The restoring of damaged data structures may particularly include automatically detecting deletion of or damaged to data structures and restoring the damaged data structures.

  • Publication number: 20050086105
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of optimizing an advertising campaign on a computer network includes the steps of delivering an advertisement to a client computer over a computer network, measuring an efficacy of the advertisement to generate a result, and changing a characteristic of the advertisement based on the result. The characteristic of the advertisement may be an aesthetic feature or a processing trigger, for example. The aesthetic feature may include the presentation vehicle used to display the advertisement, the artwork of the advertisement, and so on. The processing trigger may include rules on when to display the advertisement. The efficacy of the advertisement may be measured by determining its conversion rate or click-through rate, for example.

  • Publication number: 20050038716
Abstract: In one embodiment, a consumer is informed of a source of messages (“source”) during the downloading of an item over a network. Thereafter, messages delivered to the consumer are marked with a source indicator. An educational campaign may also be launched to further provide information about the source. For example, additional messages may be delivered to the consumer, with some of the messages containing further information about the source. The educational campaign not only helps in identifying the source, but also helps in ensuring that the consumer fully understands, and acknowledges, any agreement that the consumer entered into during the download process. In one embodiment, user interfaces that are in close proximity to each other are assigned different activation sequences to help prevent inadvertent activation of a user interface.

  • Patent number: 5229103
Abstract: There are provided shelf stable liquid concentrates for dilution to form dental rinse compositions for loosening and removing plaque present on dental surfaces, while reducing the level of plaque forming bacteria present in the oral cavity consisting essentially of an aqueous or an aqueous and alcoholic carrier for the ingredients of said concentrate, wherein the ingredients include about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of said concentrate of an oral surfactant, suitably an anionic surfactant, at least about 1% by weight of said concentrate of sodium benzoate, and sufficient pharmaceutically acceptable acid to maintain the pH of said concentrate in the range of about 6.2 to about 5.6. These concentrates, in order to be used, are diluted to form dental rinse compositions, with water, in the ratio of between about 1 to about 15 parts by weight of water to 1 part by weight of concentrate, resulting in a pH in the range of about 6.0 to about 4.7.

  • Patent number: 5218956
Abstract: An oral irrigator device is formed of an adapter mountable in interposed relation between a supply pipe of treatment liquid, generally water, and a shower head, a user-graspable handpiece, and a flexible liquid-communicating hose connecting the adapter and handpiece. A rotatable turbine within the adapter generates, from the continuous-flow stream of treatment liquid from the supply pipe, a pulsating stream of the liquid for delivery to the handpiece through a normalizing flow regulator and the flexible connecting hose. In the handpiece, the pulsating stream is separated into a primary stream for discharge through an appliance head carried on the handpiece and a secondary stream that is directed into an expansion chamber partially bounded by an elastic diaphragm which separates the chamber from a storage reservoir for a flowable medicament.
