  • Patent number: 10258280
Abstract: A wearable electronic device includes a composite band, a touch-sensor display, a skin sensor, and a course of electrical conductors. The composite band forms a loop having two or more rigid segments and a flexible segment coupled between the rigid segments. The touch-sensor display is arranged in a first of the rigid segments, and a skin sensor is arranged in a second of the rigid segments. The course of electrical conductors runs between the first and second rigid segments, inside the flexible segment.

Date of Patent: April 16, 2019
    Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLC
Inventors: Gregory Kim Justice, Vinod L. Hingorani, Farah Shariff, Stephen John Minarsch, Thomas E. McCue, Jr., Amish Patel, Mark Shintaro Ando, Scott F. Williams, Mohammad Shakeri, Byung J. Cho
  • Patent number: 9904320
Abstract: A battery box for a wearable computing device is disclosed. The battery box is comprised of a cover, battery, a structural housing sized to hold the battery, and a polymer rim. The battery box is enveloped in a thermoplastic elastomer molecularly bonded to the polymer rim. The polymer rim, thermoplastic elastomer, and cover of the battery box cooperatively resist fluid ingress into the battery box.

  • Patent number: 9277791
Abstract: A band clasp comprises a ratchet assembly at a first end of a band, the ratchet assembly including a plate having a rim that defines an aperture that extends along a length of the first end, the ratchet assembly further including a track that extends along the length of the first end beneath the plate, the track having a first side and a second side, the first side including a first plurality of teeth opposing a second plurality of teeth of the second side. The band clasp further comprises a pawl assembly disposed at a second end of the band opposite the first end, the pawl assembly including opposing pawls having an outward bias, the opposing pawls configured to engage the rim and opposing teeth of the track through the aperture to fasten the first end of the band to the second end of the band.

  • Patent number: 7280256
Abstract: A dust tolerant scanner without a transparent plate to support objects scanned by its media scan assembly. Other dust or debris collecting surfaces in the optical path of the scanner are positioned as far away as possible from an object focal plane of the media scan assembly. The media scan assembly includes upper and lower document feeder portions which define a media path adjacent to a reference surface of the upper portion. The lower document feeder portion includes a media conformance member which positions pieces of media against the reference surface as the pieces of media are advanced along the media path. The media conformance member includes ramp portions and an aperture which provides an optical path between the object focal plane and a sensor focal plane within the scanner.
