  • Publication number: 20080064409
Abstract: A method for routing a communication to a wireless device through a wireline network includes storing a registration of a wireless device with a first mobile switching center, in response to the wireless device registering with the first mobile switching center. A request for the registration of the wireless device with the first mobile switching center is received. The registration of the wireless device with the first mobile switching center is provided. The communication is routed to the wireless device from a node in the wireline network when the node in the wireline network is provided with routing instructions from a controller for the wireline network in response to the controller identifying the registration of the wireless device with the first mobile switching center.

  • Publication number: 20070291914
Abstract: A network resource mapping system generates pricing reports showing street level pricing of business entities. By mechanizing and combining a number of different calculations into a single tool, the system simplifies the pricing activity, reduces the pricing task time; and enables a pricing manager to propose a price without making simplifying assumptions. The network resource mapping system will be able to use business entity fiber routes, lit buildings, street level pricing data, cost of construction models and margin requirements to calculate potential bids. The tool will maintain the data; allow for centralized win-loss reporting and analysis; and feed down stream systems for won bids. The system query functionality enables the pricing manager to quickly review competitive situations associated with individual network circuit.

  • Publication number: 20070140228
Abstract: A telecommunication system includes a digital switch, a local loop coupling the digital switch to a subscriber location, wherein a segment of the local loop includes copper twisted pair and wherein an asymmetrical digital subscriber line is carried by the local loop, the asymmetrical digital subscriber line including a plurality of data packets capable of carrying a plurality of derived digital telephone lines. The telecommunication system further includes a subscriber unit coupled to the asymmetrical digital subscriber line. The subscriber unit monitors the content of at least one of the plurality of data packets, receives an off-hook signal in response to an action of a user, and initiates a first derived digital telephone line of the plurality of derived digital telephone lines in response to the off-hook signal.

  • Publication number: 20070127510
Abstract: A wide area communications network or simply a communications network is includes a broadband communication line having a first voice channel and a second voice channel, wherein the first and second voice channels are derived channels. The communications network further includes a residential gateway in communication with the broadband communication line. The residential gateway includes a network switch, a network interface device in communication with the network switch wherein the network switch is configured to select at least one of the first or second voice channels for voice communication over the broadband communication line.

  • Publication number: 20070033263
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing dedicated transport communication services are disclosed. A disclosed method provides a customer with first and second access ports to a circuit based communications network. Each access port has at least one associated bandwidth attribute. The method configures the communications network to route traffic between the first and second access ports in response to an operator of the communications network.

  • Publication number: 20050074021
Abstract: A wide area communications network (500) includes a first digital subscriber line (502). A first network interface device (504) connects to the digital subscriber line (502). The first network interface device (504) separates an ISDN channel (508) from a digital subscriber channel (510). An ISDN telephone (508) is connected to the network interface device (504). A protocol translator (512) is connected to the network interface device (504) by the digital subscriber channel (510). A hub (514) is connected to the protocol translator (512). A plurality of devices (516, 518) is connected to the hub (514). A digital subscriber line access multiplexer (506) is connected to the first digital subscriber line (502). The digital subscriber line access multiplexer (506) separates the digital subscriber channel from the ISDN channel (522). A public switched telephone network (523) is connected to the ISDN channel (522).

  • Publication number: 20050037750
Abstract: A call is routed to a wireless mobile station from a wireline network while bypassing a host mobile switching center (MSC) of the mobile station when the mobile station is registered at an MSC other than the host MSC. In particular, a service control point (SCP) in the wireline network receives a query from a tandem switch, associated with a trunk group of the host MSC, in response to an attempted termination of the call at the trunk group. Based on information from the query, the SCP retrieves registration data from a home location register of the host MSC, using IS-41 signaling. When the registration data indicates that the mobile station is registered at the alternate MSC, the SCP instructs the tandem switch to route the call directly to a trunk group of the alternate MSC, i.e., without passing through the host MSC.
