  • Patent number: 8366135
Abstract: A children's ride-on vehicle is disclosed. In some embodiments, the vehicle may include a body having a seat assembly configured to support a child; and a drive assembly adapted to selectively drive rotation of at least one driven wheel in a plurality of drive configurations, and including a motor assembly comprising at least one electric motor, at least one user input device positioned to receive inputs from a child supported by the seat assembly and adapted to selectively actuate the motor assembly, a battery assembly adapted to selectively energize the motor assembly, and a detection system adapted to detect whether an accessory is coupled to the body. The drive assembly being adapted to restrict driving of the at least one driven wheel to less than all drive configurations of the plurality of drive configurations based on the detection system detecting whether the accessory is coupled to the body.

  • Patent number: 8297979
Abstract: An interactive electronic device (10, 100) is disclosed. The device (10, 100) has a sequence of language symbols (18) and control electronics (16) operatively coupled to a graphic user interface (14) and a language-symbol selector (20, 20?) having a sight (22, 22?). The sequence of language symbols (18) and the language-symbol selector (20, 20?) are movable in relation to one another such that each language symbols of the sequence is viewable in the sight (22, 22?). The control electronics (16) has an electronic memory (30) having stored therein a plurality of traceable templates (32) representing each language-symbol of the sequence (18). Selection of a language symbol when the language symbol is viewable in the sight (22, 22?) causes the graphic user interface (14) to produce the traceable template (32) corresponding to the language symbol and to produce a visible rendering (34) of a movement of an affector (36) as the affector (36) races the traceable template (32).

  • Patent number: 7578505
Abstract: An electronic game device is disclosed that can simultaneously engage at least two players each at a user position arranged on opposite ends or sides of a display device so that the players are facing each other. At each user position there are hand controls such as buttons, joystick, etc., and foot controls such as a footpad having electronic switches formed therein. A controller is connected to the hand controls and foot controls at each user position and to the display device. User actuation of the hand controls produces first game control signals and user actuation of the foot controls produces second game control signals. The controller is responsive to the first game control signals and the second game control signals to generate display control signals coupled to the display device to change the display of game characters and/or objects associated with a game. In addition, the controller may generate audio control signals that are supplied to a speaker.

  • Publication number: 20040076935
Abstract: A method for teaching linguistics with an electronic reading system having a book with selectable content and a reader having a controller with a plurality of modes of operation and having a memory having stored therein material associated with the selectable book content. The method includes the following steps: allowing a selection of one mode of the plurality of modes of operation; operating the controller in an active mode corresponding to the one mode if the one mode has been selected, otherwise operating the controller in an active mode corresponding to another mode of the plurality of modes of operation; indicating the active mode of operation of the controller; providing an instruction associated with the active mode of operation; allowing selection of the selectable content based on the instruction; and producing an output based on the material associated with the selectable content and the active mode of operation.
