  • Patent number: 9438636
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method and system to forcibly unregister and/or prevent registration of a gateway and/or other endpoint in a network region in response to a survivable gatekeeper servicing the network region becoming active.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 15, 2009
Date of Patent: September 6, 2016
    Assignee: Avaya Inc.
Inventors: Charles Farwell, Don Gillespie, Cliff Grimes, Scott Hendrick, Won Huh, Tim Kaye, Robert Mitchell, Ted Morrow, Tamara Jo Noirot, Nancy Schmidt, Rick Windhausen
  • Patent number: 9265082
Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting a single invitation to join a communication directed to a multimodal endpoint are provided. More particularly, a communication directed to a multimodal endpoint is delivered to the multimodal endpoint using only a single communication network at a time. A communication server handling an incoming communication directed to the multimodal endpoint first attempts to initiate a communication session using a first, preferred communication network. If the communication is completed or is responded to by the multimodal endpoint using the first network, an attempt to complete the communication using a second network is not initiated. Alternatively, if the first communication network is not available to deliver the communication to the multimodal endpoint, an attempt to complete the communication using the second communication network is initiated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 26, 2012
Date of Patent: February 16, 2016
    Assignee: Avaya Inc.
Inventors: Lee Joseph Wilson, Jason Tanabe, Scott Hendrick

  • Publication number: 20060291400
Abstract: The present invention is directed to load balancing call signaling channels at the times that they are established, the use of variable frequency keep alive mechanisms depending on the state of the call signaling channel, and the establishment of a call signaling channel when resources are available or otherwise based on need.
