  • Publication number: 20170130483
Abstract: A pivoting lever that is designed to hold open by same polarity magnets or hold closed by opposing polarity magnets using a difference in lever arm lengths. The magnet pair closest to the pivot point will repel to hold the lever open. The magnet pair furthest from the pivot point will attract to hold the lever closed, retaining an object. The magnet pair that keeps the lever open has a magnetic force advantage compared to the magnet pair that keeps the lever closed. The magnet pair that keeps the lever closed has a mechanical advantage due to the longer lever arm. An external force is required to either open or close the lever. Once open it will remain open until acted upon by an external force. Once closed it will remain closed until acted upon by an external force.

  • Patent number: 9555419
Abstract: The present invention is directed to films that are deposited with foamable inks or coatings. One purpose is to facilitate their separation for recycling purposes. The films are particularly useful as packaging labels. The inks/coatings are designed so that foaming is activated when the film is in the hot-wash stage of a typical recycle process. This provides added buoyancy to the film allowing it to float to the surface and be removed, thereby significantly improving the efficiency of the recycle process. A feature of the invention is that, prior to this hot wash, the inks/coatings remain substantially unfoamed and thereby do not negatively affect the aesthetics of labeled package. The foamable inks/coatings can be used with any type of film.

  • Patent number: 8877984
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of 1,3-cyclohexanedimethanol from isophthalic acid. Isophthalic acid is esterified with (3-methylcyclohexyl)methanol and the isophthalate ester hydrogenated to 1,3-cyclohexanedimethanol in a 2-stage process. The (3-methylcyclohexyl)methanol that is formed during the hydrogenation step is recycled to the esterification reaction. Also disclosed is a method for purifying and recovering the 1,3-cyclohexanedimethanol product.

  • Patent number: 8777285
Abstract: A cable capture/release (CCR) device defines an open slot and an annular channel. The CCR device is coupled to a housing at a first pivot point wherein the slot is maintained outside of the housing. A sliding coupler engages the annular channel and extends to an attachment point. A tow point on the housing and the attachment point are aligned along a line of force when the housing is towed, while the first pivot point is out of alignment with the line of force. A trigger is coupled to the housing at a second pivot point. A latch, coupled to the housing at a third pivot point, defines first and second latch elements. The first latch element engages a perimeter of the CCR device and the second latch element engages the trigger.
