  • Patent number: 8068609
Abstract: The device tracking location adherence and route adherence technology, according to an exemplary embodiment of this invention, at least provides for secure message reception from a remote device. The present invention allows for secure data transmission between a remote device and while employing a small amount of bandwidth thereby providing a cost-effective data transmission system. This is especially advantageous where a fleet of remote devices is employed within a network.

  • Patent number: 7594038
Abstract: An approach is provided for configuring telemetry devices over a wireless network is disclosed. A client (e.g., web browser application) communicates with a fleet and asset management system to obtain information about a plurality of objects (vehicle or asset). In response to the user input, the client transmits the user input to the fleet and asset management, wherein the fleet and asset management generates a configuration message based on the user input for transmission over the wireless network to the one telemetry device for configuring an input/output (I/O) port of the telemetry device. The I/O port is coupled to a corresponding one of the objects. The telemetry device sets parameters relating to the I/O port according to the configuration message.

  • Patent number: 7460871
Abstract: An approach is provided for tracking a telemetry device over a wireless network. A determination is made whether the telemetry device is operating in a first mode requiring assisted Global Positioning System (A-GPS) data from the wireless network to determine location of the telemetry device. The A-GPS data is transmitted to the telemetry device if the telemetry device is operating in the first mode, wherein the telemetry device operates in a second mode to obtain GPS data autonomously for determining the location when the telemetry device is outside of the coverage area of the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 7164986
Abstract: A device tracking location adherence and route adherence technology, is disclosed that at least provides a tracked device receiving, a set of coordinates associated with a boundary area, and obtaining a position of the tracked device. Based upon the received coordinates and the detected position of the tracked device, a determination is made as to whether the tracked device is located inside the boundary area or outside the boundary area. An alert signal is then generated and transmitted if the result of the determining is different from an immediately previous obtained result. The system allows, for example, drastic reduction in the amount of data traffic required within a system since the tracked device performs much of the necessary processing. This is especially advantageous where a fleet of tracked devices are employed within a network.

  • Patent number: 6425933
Abstract: Organic fertilizer produced from raw manure, and systems and methods related to the production thereof. A high-velocity air stream is injected into at least one substantially-closed chamber, where it interacts with a supply of raw manure; the raw manure can be bovine or other animal waste products. The high-velocity air stream pulverizes and dries the raw manure, whereby an end product having a moisture content substantially less than the initial moisture content and a live bacteria content substantially equal to the initial live bacteria content of the raw manure is produced. In a preferred embodiment, a cyclonic comminution apparatus is used to pulverize and dry the raw manure; alternatively, a first cyclonic comminution apparatus can be used to substantially pulverize the raw manure and a second cyclonic comminution apparatus can be used to substantially dry the raw manure.

  • Patent number: 5621662
Abstract: A home automation system comprises a number of sub-systems for controlling various aspects of a house, such as a security sub-system, an HVAC sub-system, a lighting control sub-system, and an entertainment sub-system. The network comprises a host computer connected through a host interface to a plurality of nodes. The network is in a free form topology and employ asynchronous communication. The host computer polls each node on the network to determine system configuration and to perform a diagnostic check on the system. The messages that are transmitted between the nodes are comprised of a source address, a destination address that uniquely identifies the location of each piece of hardware on the system, a message type field, and a data length segment. Each hardware device has a mirror image software object in the host computer to which messages are directed. The user interfaces for the various sub-systems share a common interfacing method whereby use of the system is greatly simplified.
