  • Publication number: 20240150586
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a coated metal substrate comprising a metal substrate; a coating applied over at least a portion of the metal substrate, wherein the coating comprises a film-forming binder; magnesium oxide; and an aluminum compound and/or iron compound; wherein the coating has a dry film thickness of at least 10 microns, and the magnesium oxide and the aluminum and/or iron compound are present in a weight ratio of 1:1 to 240:1. The present disclosure is also directed to a curable film film-forming coating composition a film-forming binder; magnesium oxide; and an aluminum compound and/or iron compound, wherein the magnesium oxide and the aluminum and/or iron compound are present in a weight ratio of 1:1 to 240:1. Also disclosed are methods of coating a substrate.

  • Patent number: 8911832
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of mitigating ice build-up on a substrate, comprising applying to the substrate combinations of curable film-forming compositions. The curable film-forming compositions may comprise functional film-forming polymers and curing agents or any of various polysiloxanes and optionally silanes with reactive groups. The film-forming compositions can be applied directly to the surface of the substrate or to a primer coat on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8765228
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of mitigating ice build-up on a substrate, such as a wind blade, comprising applying to the substrate curable film-forming compositions comprising isocyanate-functional curing agents, film-forming compositions with functional groups reactive with the isocyanates, and polysiloxanes. The film-forming compositions can be applied directly to the surface of the substrate or onto a primer coat and/or topcoat on the substrate.
