  • Publication number: 20110320654
Abstract: A mechanism is provided to automatically retrieve zoning best practices from a centralized repository and to ensure that automatically generated zones do not violate these best practices. A user selects a set of hosts and storage controllers. The user also selects a guidance policy for creating the zone, and also selects a set of validation policies that must be enforced on the zone. If the user selects a guidance policy and a validation policy combination that is incompatible, the mechanism allows the user to change either the selected guidance policy or the set of validation policies. If the user has selected consistent-zoning as a guidance policy, then the mechanism automatically selects a guidance policy that does not violate the known validation policies.

  • Patent number: 8037021
Abstract: The calendaring techniques and interfaces described herein provide access to calendar data stored in a server hosted calendar store to applications. The calendar data includes calendar events and tasks. In one aspect, an application program interface (API) retrieves an occurrence from a series of reoccurring calendar data upon request from an application. In another aspect, the API sends calendar data provided by the application to a server program that manages a calendar store for storage and queries the server program to retrieve calendar data requested by the application from the calendar store. In yet another aspect, the API sends notifications that the calendar store has changed to interested applications.

  • Patent number: 8036940
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides the ability for forest products sellers to provide potential buyers with price and availability information about their products, whether or not those products are in existing inventory. It gives the seller control over which products can be pre-sold prior to production or purchase, and control over pre-sold quantities so that the seller may be not committed beyond his capacity to produce or purchase to fill orders and inquiries. An embodiment of the invention provides sellers a means for indicating willingness to sell specific forest products under specific conditions of price, time, delivery, and other terms.

  • Publication number: 20110239146
Abstract: A text input is received in a calendar context. The text input is processed with a context-neutral extraction process to generate a first set of elements and with a calendar-specific extraction process to generate a second set of elements. A calendar event is created from the first set of elements and the second set of elements and displayed on a display device without confirming the elements of the calendar event with a user.

  • Patent number: 7974271
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing high quality sound communications in an IP Centrex environment. The method aspect of the invention comprises, from a network switch, negotiating between a first customer premises equipment (CPE) and a second CPE, the negotiation being related to a possible quality of a call between the first CPE and the second CPE. Next, the switch controls mapping between a dialing plan and a network address, determining a network address of the first CPE and the second CPE and connecting the call between the first CPE and the second CPE. In this manner, the highest quality and broadest bandwidth possible between the first CPE and second CPE through the IP Centrex environment may be used for the call.

  • Patent number: 7851218
Abstract: The present invention provides cell lines for the production of E1-deleted adenovirus (rAd) vectors that complement E1A and E1B functions. The present invention also provides cell lines for the production of E1- and E2-deleted adenovirus vectors that complement E1A, E1B and E2B polymerase functions. The invention provides particular cell lines that complement E1A function by insertion of an E1A sequence containing mutations in the 243R and 289R proteins and an E1B sequence comprising the E1B-55K gene. Production yields in the resulting producer cell lines, designated SL0003 and SL0006, were similar to those obtained from 293 cells without generation of detectable recombinant replication competent adenovirus (“RCA”).

  • Publication number: 20100299411
Abstract: A network includes a media server and a service activation device. The media server may receive a request for content from a subscriber device and transmit a message. The message may identify the subscriber device and include information relating to the content. The service activation device may receive the message from the media server, identify, in response to receiving the message, bandwidth and quality of service requirements for the content, determine whether resources needed to provide the identified bandwidth and quality of service requirements exist, reserve the resources when the resources needed to provide the identified bandwidth and quality of service requirements exist, and transmit a second message to the media server in response to reserving the resources. The second message may cause the media server to provide the content to the subscriber device.

  • Patent number: 7838732
Abstract: The instant disclosure describes the application of genetic engineering techniques to produce cellulase in plants. Cellulase coding sequences operably linked to promoters active in plants may be transformed into the nuclear genome and/or the plastid genome of a plant. As cellulases may be toxic to plants, chemically-inducible or wound-inducible promoters may be employed. Additionally, the expressed cellulases may be targeted to vacuoles or other cellular organelles.
