  • Patent number: 9771042
Abstract: A system for classifying an occupant located on a seating surface of a vehicle seat. The system includes a movable element and an electrode located in the vehicle seat. A sensing circuit is provided to supply a signal to the conductor. The sensing circuit also includes measurement electronics configured to measure the signal to the conductor and the vibration of the moveable element. A controller is configured to discriminate between different types of objects located on the seating surface based on changes in the signal being supplied to the conductor and the vibration of the moveable element.

  • Patent number: 7819004
Abstract: A vehicle sensor assembly includes a housing assembly and a printed circuit board having a plurality of electronic components provided thereon, mounted in the housing assembly. A connector interface is integrally formed with the housing assembly by a polymer overmold. The connector interface includes a shroud member. The shroud member is made of a polymer harder than the polymer overmold.

  • Publication number: 20090289625
Abstract: A sensor system includes an electrically conductive surface and an air coil in proximity to the electrically conductive surface. The air coil includes a first coil and a second coil. The first coil forms a wire winding pattern having a cross section perpendicular with the cross section of a wire winding pattern of the second coil. The sensor system also includes a controller electrically coupled to the air coil and configured to sense a change in impedance of the air coil due to relative movement between the air coil and the electrically conductive surface. The sensor system also includes a safety device electrically coupled to the controller.

  • Publication number: 20090001978
Abstract: A sensor system is provided. The sensor system includes an electrically conductive surface and an air coil in proximity to the electrically conductive surface. The air coil has a wire winding pattern with an ā€œLā€ shaped cross section. The sensor system also includes a controller, coupled to the air coil and configured to sense a change in impedance of the air coil due to movement of the electrically conductive surface. A safety device is coupled to the controller. The controller activates the safety device if the change in impedance of the air coil exceeds a predetermined threshold.
