  • Publication number: 20180055233
Abstract: A resting surface accessory can be used within a vehicle space to provide a resting surface for one or more vehicle occupants. As an example, the resting surface accessory can be used in the bed of a pickup truck. The resting surface accessory includes a main body. The main body can have a first lateral side and an opposite second lateral side. The main body can include a central region with a plurality of sleeves. Each of the sleeves can define a cavity. The plurality of sleeves can be spaced from the first lateral side and the second lateral side. The resting surface accessory includes a first connector. The first connector can be operatively connected to the main body and can extend along the first lateral side. The resting surface accessory can include a second connector operatively connected to the main body and extending along the second lateral side.

  • Patent number: 9889730
Abstract: Water management for vehicles with an open top cargo bed are described. A plurality of vehicle components can form a portion of the open-top cargo bed. The plurality of vehicle components can define a gap. A seal plug can be received in the gap. The seal plug can sealingly engage the first and/or second lateral side of the gap. The seal plug can be configured to direct water away from the vehicle. For instance, the seal plug can include a deflection surface. The deflection surface can be angled downwardly and away from the gap. The seal plug can include a water drainage channel. The water drainage channel can include a first end opening to an upper surface of the seal plug and the second end opening to the deflection surface and/or other surface that slopes downwardly and away from the gap.

  • Patent number: 9828045
Abstract: A spare wheel carrier for a vehicle includes a wheel frame having an upright axis, a rotary bearing, and multiple surface-mountable linear slides. The wheel frame includes a hub and multiple outboard generally planar wheel-bearing wheel faces. The wheel faces have circumferentially-spaced respective inclined orientations whereby the wheel faces are inclined towards one another in a converging relationship, and each wheel face is configured to support a spare wheel on its side in its inclined orientation. The rotary bearing is configured to support the wheel frame, by its hub, for axial rotation. The linear slides, on the other hand, are configured to carry a bridge between them, and support the rotary bearing, and the wheel frame, via the rotary bearing, on the bridge for radial movement.

  • Patent number: 9707888
Abstract: A removable cargo liner for selectively illuminating a vehicle rear cargo area is disclosed. The removable cargo liner may include a planar body portion, a light element assembly, and a photovoltaic cell circuit. The light element assembly provides selective illumination, and is in a fixed relation with the planar body portion. The photovoltaic cell circuit being received by the planar body portion, wherein the photovoltaic cell circuit is oriented to receive light energy and to produce therefrom a photovoltaic charge signal. The photovoltaic cell circuit includes a controller coupled to the charging circuit and to the light element assembly. The controller is operable in a first mode for charging the voltage source and in a second mode for discharging the voltage source to the light element assembly.

  • Patent number: 9663150
Abstract: A hood assembly includes an outer panel that is connected to an inner panel. The inner panel includes one or more elongated slots that extend lengthwise in a vehicle longitudinal direction. The elongated slots can provide a line of weakness to reduce deceleration of an impacting body. A slot protector is fitted within the elongated slots. The slot protector is formed of a flexible material that facilitates an interference fit within the slot.
