  • Patent number: 7165113
Abstract: A conversation definition language (CDL) is disclosed that programmers may use to define sequences of interactions for communicating with a web service to facilitate use of the web service. CDL enables web services provided by different entities to engage in flexible and autonomous interactions. Using CDL, services can communicate by exchanging messages, and the message exchanges are expected to follow a specific pattern (i.e., a conversation). CDL is used to define the conversation, such that a service may expect a particular message in response to transmitting a particular message. CDL includes document type descriptions, interactions and transitions for describing a conversation. The document type descriptions describe the messages that may be exchanged. The interactions describe the type of actions (e.g., receive and/or transmit a message) that may be performed, and the transitions describe the possible sequences of the interactions.

  • Patent number: 6986550
Abstract: A seat slide assembly for a fixed seating arrangement allows for controlled horizontal movement of a seat in relation to a fixed vertical seat post. The seat slide assembly includes a cover configured for attachment to the bottom of a conventional seat, and a seat slide top member attached to the underside of the cover. The bottom of the seat slide top member is configured to receive and attach a pair of parallel ball-type bearing assemblies located on opposite sides of the seat slide assembly. Each bearing assembly is mounted to the underside of the seat slide top member, so that the bearing assemblies move along with the seat slide top member on an upper wall defined by a base. A spring biased seat slide retainer handle is operatively attached to the seat slide top member, and includes a retainer tab that engages a one of a series of spaced slots on a flange extending downwardly from a side of the base, for incremental controlled movement of the seat.

  • Patent number: 6892347
Abstract: Techniques for monitoring user activities at a web site and for initiating an action when it is determined that the user has exited the web site. In response to a user accessing a web page stored by a web site, an embodiment of the present invention periodically monitors the user's activities at the web site and checks if the user has exited the web site. At least one action is initiated when it is determined that the user has exited from the web site. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the actions comprise displaying a form to the user. Actions initiated by an embodiment of the present invention may be customized based upon user information and information about the user's activities at the web site.

  • Patent number: 6516187
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for correcting the DC offset caused by self-conversion of the oscillator signal in an RF-to-baseband converter. The circuit comprises: a subtractor for subtracting an amplified DC offset signal from a filtered mixer signal to generate a corrected signal; a baseband amplifier coupled to the subtractor to receive the corrected signal to generate a baseband output signal; a low-pass filter coupled to the baseband amplifier to generate a DC offset signal representative of the DC offset; and a DC offset amplifier coupled to the low-pass filter and the subtractor to generate the amplified DC offset signal.

  • Patent number: 5734257
Abstract: A transmission line power controller for controlling the flow of electric power in an alternating current three-phase transmission system is described. The power line controller includes a parallel inverter connected to a series inverter through a dc link. The parallel inverter is connected in shunt to the transmission system through a shunt transformer. The series inverter is connected in series with the transmission system through a series transformer. A transmission line power control circuit is used to specify a desired real power demand and reactive power demand for the transmission system. The power control circuit processes this information along with a transmission line voltage vector and a transmission line current vector to produce a voltage source reference signal that is applied to the series inverter. In response to the voltage source reference signal, the series inverter produces an injected voltage vector into the transmission system.

  • Patent number: 5459466
Abstract: A first subset of components of a first set of pairs of complementary differential electrical signals representative of a numerical value expressed in a multi-bit thermometer code, is processed in accordance with a first set of Boolean functions to produce a first set of output electrical signal components , and a second subset of components of the first set of pairs of complementary differential electrical signals is processed in accordance with a second set of Boolean functions to produce a second set of output electrical signal components. The first and second subsets and the first and second sets of Boolean functions are such that the first and second sets of output electrical signal components when combined form a second set of pairs of complementary differential electrical signals representative of the same numerical value expressed in a second multi-bit code with fewer bits than the multi-bit thermometer code.
