  • Patent number: 11758636
Abstract: A method to control a streetlight with a smart streetlight controller, includes isolating a terrestrial position of the smart streetlight controller, isolating a specific date, and calculating, at the smart streetlight controller, a time value associated with an event, such as sunrise or sunset, that is defined by a position of the sun on the specific date. The method further includes generating a streetlight control time by applying an offset to the time value, and executing a streetlight control command, such as a command to turn the streetlight on or off, at the streetlight control time.

  • Publication number: 20230236646
Abstract: The device, method, and system embodiments described in this disclosure (i.e., the teachings of this disclosure) enable an authorization circuit having at least one authorization mechanism to cooperate with an access circuit having at least one key mechanism. Upon successfully authorizing at least one datum communicated from the key mechanism of the access circuit, the authorization circuit is arranged to deliver power having determined characteristics to the access circuit. In at least one embodiment, the authorization circuit is arranged as a circuit wired or wirelessly coupled to a power infrastructure in a building. In at least one embodiment, the access circuit is arranged as a smart power plug arranged to temporarily deliver power to a mobile computing device or other electrically powered device. In some cases, power is only delivered after a user consumes certain multimedia information. In some cases, power that is delivered is delivered for only a short time and is measured.

  • Patent number: 11455902
Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying a large number of participants in videoconference are described. The participant's video feeds are presented in a continuous scrolling manner, such that each participant's video feed is visible for a part of the time. The participants may select the number of videos displayed at one time on a grid. The system and method monitor which video feeds are being, or about to be displayed, and streams the feeds accordingly. The system and method also provide for classroom-like settings by allowing students to “raise their hand” and be “called on” by an instructor. By scrolling though all of the videos in a meeting, people that are running a session can monitor the other participants, permitting them to select someone to focus on, and allows the other participants to see each other, producing a “sense of belonging.

  • Patent number: 11329872
Abstract: Provisioning industrial internet of things (IIOT) devices arranged for deployment in disparate geographic locations includes grouping a subset of IIOT devices into a batch. Each IIOT device stores a system-wide unique identifier (SWUI) and first communication information that identifies a global computing server. The method includes recording with a first input system the SWUI of each IIOT device in the batch, generating a batch identifier, associating the batch identifier with the batch of IIOT devices or each IIOT device in the batch, and associating the batch identifier with customer information. The customer information is associated with second communication information, which identifies a customer-based computing server. The method includes receiving, at the global computing server, incoming communications from a selected IIOT device, and based on the SWUI, and retrieving the batch identifier.

  • Publication number: 20200302812
Abstract: Systems and methods for online classroom instruction are described that facilitate the learning and application of course information in an active and synchronous learning environment. The system monitors the activity of the students in each breakout group, and the teacher is provided with a graphical indication, for each breakout group, of the amount of activity. The teacher may also use the graphical interface to either view a particular breakout group, or become n active member of a particular breakout group. The teacher may also move students from one breakout group to another.
