    Abstract: A golf club head with at least one cavity including a fill material comprising a polymer and a plurality of microscopic glass bubbles, and methods of manufacturing such golf club heads, are disclosed herein. In particular, the golf club head is an iron having a striking face, a rear portion, and an internal cavity disposed behind the striking face, which is at least partially filled with the fill material. The plurality of microscopic glass bubbles constitutes at 5-70% of the volume of the fill material, and more preferably approximately 20-30% of the volume of the fill material. The polymer material preferably is a polyurethane having a Poisson's ratio of 0.40-0.50. In some embodiments, the fill material takes the form a medallion affixed to a rear surface of the striking face, while in others, the fill material is injected into the internal cavity.

The method inputs the optimized values for the golf club head orientation and impact location, a plurality of golf swing properties of a golfer, a plurality of mass properties of a first golf club, and a plurality of mass properties of a first golf ball into a rigid body code. A plurality of calculated ball launch parameters is generated from the rigid body, which are compared to a plurality of actual ball launch parameters measured using a CMOS imaging system. The ball launch parameters are compared to each other to verify the optimized values. If the verification is not within a predetermined value, new optimized values are selected for the method. The method is repeated until the verification is within the value.

The method inputs the pre-impact swing properties of a golfer obtained from a CMOS imaging system, a plurality of mass properties of a first golf club, and a plurality of mass properties of a first golf ball into a rigid body code. Ball launch parameters are generated from the rigid body. The ball launch parameters, a plurality of atmospheric conditions and lift and drag properties of the golf ball are inputted into a trajectory code. This trajectory code is used to predict the performance of a golf ball if struck by the golfer with the golf club under the atmospheric conditions. The method can then predict the performance of the golf ball if struck by the golfer with a different golf club. The method and system of the present invention predict the performance of the golf ball without the golfer actually striking the golf ball.
