The first contact surface is spaced from the second contact surface by a gap that is at least 5 times the first height. An example solar tracking apparatus includes a structure attachment portion configured to be attached to a structure (e.g., a moveable or stationary structure) and to remain relatively stationary relative to the structure. The structure attachment portion may include one or more mounts configured to attach the structure attachment portion to the structure. The solar tracking apparatus also includes at least one solar panel portion coupled to the structure attachment portion. The solar panel portion may be configured to move relative to the structure attachment portion and the structure. For example, the solar tracking apparatus may include one or more actuators coupled to solar panel portion configured to move at least a portion of the solar panel portion relative to the structure attachment portion.

Abstract: A bicycle includes a frame, a front fork, a fixed stop member fixed in relation to the frame, a bearing member that supports the front fork relative to the frame for rotation about a steering axis, and a compression ring. The compression ring includes a body portion between the bearing member and the front fork and a stop portion rotationally aligned with the fixed stop member to inhibit over-rotation of the front fork relative to the frame. The stop portion comprises a second material that is harder than the first material of the body portion. For example, the stop portion can include a contact surface that contacts the fixed stop member when the front fork is sufficiently rotated, and the contact surface can comprise the second material. In one embodiment, the second material comprises one or more of aluminum, titanium, ceramic, and steel. The body portion can be formed as an overmold on the stop portion.

Abstract: An overspeed safety braking mechanism for lift cars and elevator systems is described herein. The safety mechanism may comprise a safety kit secured to an overhead portion of a lift car, and configured to engage a cable to prevent a downward movement of the lift car. Engagement of the cable may occur when a threshold speed is reached. The overhead portion of the lift car is detachable upon a predetermined upward force resulting from an engagement of the safety cable from the safety kit. A primary brake system may be positioned beneath the safety kit, on or near a lift platform, configured to engage the safety cable in response to an activation of the safety kit and a detection of the threshold speed.

Abstract: An overspeed brake system is described to engage a safety cable and subsequent brake system once a threshold speed is reached. An overspeed safety kit may be installed on an elevator system or lift car, to identify a threshold speed and engage a brake lever to activate a braking system. One or more brake engagement devices may be applied to limit the force on the brake lever during a fall, thereby preventing potential damage to brake components, while cushioning the deceleration.
