  • Patent number: 9308375
Abstract: Methods and devices for classifying a cardiac pacing response involve using a first electrode combination for pacing and a second electrode combination for sensing a cardiac signal following pacing. The cardiac response to pacing may be classified using the sensed cardiac signal. One process involves using the sensed cardiac signal to detect the cardiac response as a fusion/pseudofusion beat. Another process involves using the sensed cardiac signal to classify the cardiac response to pacing as one of at least three cardiac response types.

  • Patent number: 9295845
Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for preventing or reducing the ventricular remodeling that normally occurs after a myocardial infarction using pacing therapy. By pacing sites in proximity to the infarct with appropriately timed pacing pulses, the infarct region is pre-excited in a manner that lessens the mechanical stress to which it is subjected, thus reducing the stimulus for remodeling. If capture by the pacing pulses is not being achieved, the device may be configured to change the pacing pulse energy and/or pacing site as appropriate.

  • Patent number: 9273276
Abstract: A cell culture method using an in vitro microscale cell culture device having a first microscale chamber containing cells attached to an inner surface of the chamber and cell culture medium in contact with the cells. The cells are maintained in culture in the in vitro microscale cell culture device while flowing culture medium through the first chamber at a controlled rate to provide a liquid residence time value for the cells in the first chamber of the in vitro microscale cell culture device that is comparable to a liquid residence time value obtained with respect to comparable cells in vivo, such that metabolism by the cells in culture in the in vitro microscale cell culture device is comparable to metabolism by comparable cells in vivo.

  • Publication number: 20150327761
Abstract: Systems and methods for efficiently obtaining optical coherence tomography (OCT) measurement data with reduced effects of motion are presented. One embodiment involves determining the amount of motion present during the collection of an OCT data set based on images of the eye collected at the same time as the OCT data, and recollecting select portions of the OCT data set when the amount of eye motion is determined to exceed a predetermined threshold. Another embodiment includes enabling or disabling a tracking feature based on the quality of the images available for tracking. Another embodiment includes reducing the effect of motion in the axial direction based on a comparison to a model of the eye constructed from OCT data. The method can also be used to reduce the presence of mirror image artifacts in an OCT image.
