  • Patent number: 11315296
Abstract: A digital map is displayed via a user interface in a map viewport. The digital map includes various features representing respective entities in a geographic area, each of the features being displayed at a same level of magnification. Geolocated points of interest are determined within the geographic area, and a focal point of the map viewport is determined. For each of indicators, the size of the indicator is varied in accordance with the distance between the geographic location corresponding to the indicator and the geographic location corresponding to the focal point of the map viewport. • Patent number: 9117232
Abstract: A page update handler, which may be loaded by a web browser as part of a web page, adds functionality for dynamically updating the web page with content supplied by a content server. The content may be related to a particular item detected on the web page by the page update handler, such as a link that matches a link signature. The content server may operate in a different Internet domain from the server that servers the original web page, and may supply content for display on web pages of many different independent web sites. In one embodiment, an operator of a web site that is separate from the content server can enable the display of content from the content server on the site's web pages by adding an update handler tag to one or more corresponding HTML documents.

  • Patent number: 8666830
Abstract: The top rated products in a product category are identified by computing a score for each product in the category. The score is computed by calculating a time decay factor for each product category. The time decay factor is utilized to decay the ratings of each product as a function of time. A relevance value is also computed for each product. The relevance value is utilized to modify the ratings for each product in view of the recency of the ratings. The score may be computed for each product using the ratings for the product, the computed time decay factor, and/or the relevance value. The computed scores are utilized to rank the products in the product category.

  • Patent number: 7975020
Abstract: A page update handler, which may be loaded by a web browser as part of a web page, adds functionality for dynamically updating the web page with content supplied by a content server. In one embodiment, when a mouse-over event occurs with respect to a recognized item on the web page, such as a hyperlink that matches a particular link signature, the page update handler displays a corresponding overlay display object within the web page. The overlay display object displays information about or associated with the recognized item, and may provide functionality for the user to further interact with the content server. In one embodiment, an operator of a web site that is separate from the content server can enable overlay display objects within its web pages by merely adding an update handler tag to one or more corresponding HTML documents.

  • Patent number: 7813965
Abstract: Techniques described enable an entity, such as a company employing an e-commerce website, to leverage user-provided content, such as customer reviews of an item, to better customers' shopping experiences. To do so, customer reviews pertaining to an item may be examined to determine if the reviews contain links to other items. These links within the customer reviews may then be aggregated and sorted (e.g., ranked) according to certain criteria. The links may be sorted based on a number of times that the links are used in the reviews and/or on ratings of the items associated with the links. One or more of the links may then be displayed on the website. For instance, these links may appear on an item review page adjacent the customer reviews. Customers navigating to the item review page may then peruse the customer reviews as well as the displayed links that customers have used within the reviews.
