Patent number: 11885161Abstract: An electronic door lock system includes a gasket system for protecting electrical and mechanical components from exterior water and air. A lock portion may include a gasket, a circuit board, and a plate disposed between a first and second housing. The gasket includes an L-shaped perimeter that wraps around a first side and perimeter edge of the circuit board. The plate compresses the gasket perimeter against a ridge on the first housing to form a seal around the circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2022Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: ASSA ABLOY Access and Egress Hardware Group, Inc.Inventors: Douglas Clark, Rick Leites, Scott Morstatt, Eric Palmieri, Sharath Ramachandran

Publication number: 20220356729Abstract: A door lock system may include an outer spindle operatively connected to a disc with a larger diameter than a diameter of the outer spindle. The disc may include an opening that slidingly receives a lock spindle along a lock axis configured to engage a lock body. The lock spindle and the spindle opening may have complementary shapes and sizes such that the lock spindle is rotationally coupled to the disc about the center axis. Torque may be transmitted from a handle to the disc and from the disc to the lock spindle via the opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2022Publication date: November 10, 2022Applicant: ASSA ABLOY Access and Egress Hardware Group, Inc.Inventors: Rick Leites, Eric Palmieri, Sharath Ramachandran, Scott Morstatt, Douglas Clark

Publication number: 20220356730Abstract: A door lock system includes a toolless handing assembly that selectively sets a handle in a left or right home position. The handing assembly may cooperate with a disc and a spring that biases the disc to a default position. The disc may be rotated in a first direction to set the disc in a first home position. A catch may engage the disc to retain the disc in the first home position. The catch may be released to return the disc to the default position and the disc may be rotated in a second direction to set the disc in a second home position, opposite the first home position.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2022Publication date: November 10, 2022Applicant: ASSA ABLOY Access and Egress Hardware Group, Inc.Inventors: Rick Leites, Eric Palmieri, Sharath Ramachandran, Scott Morstatt, Douglas Clark

Publication number: 20220356732Abstract: A lock portion of an electronic door lock system includes a first housing and a second housing secured to a backplate of the first housing. The second housing is secured to a first surface of the backplate and only accessible from a second surface of the backplate. One or more wires are secured to the second housing in a service loop and connected to an actuator within the second housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2022Publication date: November 10, 2022Applicant: ASSA ABLOY Access and Egress Hardware Group, Inc.Inventors: Rick Leites, Eric Palmieri, Sharath Ramachandran, Scott Morstatt, Douglas Clark

Publication number: 20220356731Abstract: A door lock system that adjusts to doors of different thicknesses. The door lock system may include self-adjusting spindles that engage and center a lock body in a door. The spindles may exert equal and opposing forces that center the lock body within the door and align the lock body with a latch.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2022Publication date: November 10, 2022Applicant: ASSA ABLOY Access and Egress Hardware Group, Inc.Inventors: Rick Leites, Eric Palmieri, Sharath Ramachandran, Scott Morstatt, Douglas Clark

Publication number: 20220106814Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to electronic locking devices. The locking device may include a housing and an escutcheon attached to the housing. The escutcheon has a body defining an outer perimeter and a light ring disposed around the outer perimeter of the body. The light ring is configured to emit a changeable pattern of light in response to a status event to indicate the status of the electronic locking device. The light ring may be viewable from a front view and a side view. The locking device may be part of a lock set that includes a second locking device. The second locking device has a light pad that may be configured to emit complementary light patterns in response to the status event. The second or interior locking device may have a mode setting button. A controller is configured to receive a mode change from the mode setting button and configured to cause the light ring to illuminate a corresponding mode indication based on the mode change.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2021Publication date: April 7, 2022Inventors: Scott Morstatt, Andrew Wilding, William Gardiner

Patent number: 11193303Abstract: A door handle assembly that allows for easy removal and switching of handles. Such an arrangement may provide the flexibility to change handle orientation and interchange handles based on a user's circumstances or preferences such as when a door handle is configured as a lever having a curved shape. Further, the door handle may be configured as a door lock having a keypad access control. The face of the keypad accessible from outside the door may include auxiliary battery terminals to provide the user with easy accessibility for providing temporary power to the door lock with an auxiliary battery should the installed batteries housed within the door lock fail to provide sufficient power.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2018Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: ASSA ABLOY Residential Group, Inc.Inventor: Scott Morstatt

Patent number: 10808420Abstract: An electronic lock housing for the inside surface of a door with an opening therethrough has an interior portion for receiving electronic components for a door lock, a back portion with channels, a bracket, a plug, and a front portion. The back portion is meant for securing onto the door surface and has an opening meant for alignment with the door opening. The channels in the back portion permit air from the outside of the door to flow through the door opening and housing back opening to the inside of the door without passing through the housing interior. The bracket secures the back portion to the door and receives the plug to create an air-tight seal within the housing interior. The housing front portion is secured over the assembled back portion, bracket, and plug once they are installed to the door surface, fully encasing the electronic components.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2017Date of Patent: October 20, 2020Assignee: Yale Security Inc.Inventors: Scott Morstatt, Wai P. Wong, Craig Babcock, Mark Caterino
