Torque may be transmitted from a handle to the disc and from the disc to the lock spindle via the opening.

The catch may be released to return the disc to the default position and the disc may be rotated in a second direction to set the disc in a second home position, opposite the first home position.

The light ring is configured to emit a changeable pattern of light in response to a status event to indicate the status of the electronic locking device. The light ring may be viewable from a front view and a side view. The locking device may be part of a lock set that includes a second locking device. The second locking device has a light pad that may be configured to emit complementary light patterns in response to the status event. The second or interior locking device may have a mode setting button. A controller is configured to receive a mode change from the mode setting button and configured to cause the light ring to illuminate a corresponding mode indication based on the mode change.

    Abstract: An electronic lock housing for the inside surface of a door with an opening therethrough has an interior portion for receiving electronic components for a door lock, a back portion with channels, a bracket, a plug, and a front portion. The back portion is meant for securing onto the door surface and has an opening meant for alignment with the door opening. The channels in the back portion permit air from the outside of the door to flow through the door opening and housing back opening to the inside of the door without passing through the housing interior. The bracket secures the back portion to the door and receives the plug to create an air-tight seal within the housing interior. The housing front portion is secured over the assembled back portion, bracket, and plug once they are installed to the door surface, fully encasing the electronic components.
