  • Patent number: 6745907
Abstract: A device for holding a plurality of capped writing tools that facilitates the artistic process of artists that require mobility and quick accessibility to their tools. The device consists of a generally planar base with the shape of an artist's palette. The base has a plurality of holes arrayed on its surface with a twist to lock capability. Inserts that interface with the twist to lock or snap into the holes provide the capability to accept a wide variety of capped writing tools. The inserts have threaded holes or have integrally molded caps to accept the capped writing tools. The inserts can provide additional functionality such as providing holding for cleaning wipes. The device is useable by both right- and left-handed artists. The device allows the artist to carry an assortment of tools chosen by the artist in the arrangement desired by the artist for quick accessibility.

  • Patent number: 6081244
Abstract: An antenna reflector comprising a single membrane antenna reflector surface and means for supporting said antenna reflector surface are disclosed wherein a shape of said antenna reflector is reconfigured to assume a stowed position. The shape of the stowed reflector allowing a large, single piece antenna reflector to be stowed efficiently inside a minimum payload area of the space vehicle. The method and apparatus of this invention ensure that both the deployed and stowed surfaces of the membrane antenna reflector are isometric, or length preserving, mappings of one another. The circumferential dimension of the antenna reflector is decreased having the effect of rolling up the paraboloid so that its surface is similar to a cone. Additionally, the method and apparatus are employed such that when the antenna reflector surface is deployed the antenna reflector membrane unrolls without stretching.

  • Patent number: 5794946
Abstract: A spiral wound gasket able to compress and seal under various loads and provide sealing capabilities. The gasket generally includes a spiral wound portion and an outer guide ring to limit the compression of the gasket. The spiral winding is formed of interdisposed windings of a metal and an elastomer sealant. The metal winding has a non-planar cross-section to inhibit buckling under compression. The gasket is dimensioned such that the elastomer sealant winding has a width greater than the width of the metal winding which has a width greater than the thickness of the guide ring. In this manner, the sealant is compressed before compression of the metal winding which can be compressed until the outer guide ring is encountered.

  • Patent number: 5659291
Abstract: A key-in-ignition lock reminder system uses a key having a transponder with an identification code. An ignition lock for receiving the key has an adjacent antenna. A door proximity switch connected to the door generates a door open signal when the door is open. A control module is connected to a door lock control, the door proximity switch and a memory storing at least one identification code. The control module energizes the antenna coil which energizes a transponder. The transponder then transmits an identification code which is received by the antenna. The control module generates a control signal if the code from the transponder is equivalent to an identification code stored in the memory and the door proximity switch indicates the door is open. An indicator connected to the control module receives the control signal and generates an indication that the key is in the ignition lock.
