    Abstract: A backpack with at least one strap that can quickly be retracted or extended to permit the user to easily put on or remove the backpack. The backpack includes a retracting mechanism and a locking device. The retracting mechanism allows the retracting strap to extend or retract as desired. The locking device keeps the strap from extending or retracting while the backpack is being carried.
