  • Patent number: 7540113
Abstract: Various sleeves and bags or packaging goods, especially floral groupings such as bouquets and pot plants, can be provided using the present invention. Exemplary sleeves are manufactured with an outer wall and an inner wall, each of which is formed of two layers. The outer layers are a transparent or semitransparent sheet material such as polypropylene, and the inner layers are a nonwoven fabric material made of a compatible polymer. The outer and inner layers of each wall may be printed with complementary images or patterns. The inner and outer layers of the one or both walls may be fastened to each other not only along the side edges of the sleeve, but also at discrete locations along the top edge where the sleeve is opened. The connection can be made using glue or the equivalent, by melting or welding the two layers together, or by punching a tab of the outer layer through the inner layer. The top and bottom edges of the inner and outer layers may be coincident, or not.

  • Patent number: 6944988
Abstract: A plant container including a receptacle having a top opening for insertion of a plant therein and a top flap for selective folding over the top opening to cover the receptacle. A stack of these containers may be compactly stored in a collapsed flat state and then individual containers expanded upon purchase of plant. The containers may be made from panels having a right triangular shape so that may be mass produced in such a manner that wasted web material is minimized.

  • Patent number: 6591550
Abstract: A floral container including a receptacle that holds a liquid and an insert which supports the floral grouping. The insert is positioned within the receptacle above the bottom wall of the receptacle to define a liquid-holding region. The side walls of the receptacle and the side walls of the insert may define a spill-catching region which communicates with the liquid-holding region of the container to catch displaced liquid if the floral container is tilted. The insert may include a divider positioned to form compartments through which the stems may extend to the liquid-containing region of the receptacle. The floral container may be loaded into an outer container to form a floral shipper and a plurality of these floral shippers may be assembled on a pallet.

  • Patent number: 5496252
Abstract: A flat trapezoidal container provides a generally frustoconical bag with a single cavity when at least partially filled with a pulverulent material such as soil which may have a live plant growing therein, or comestible goods such as popcorn and other snacks which rely heavily upon spur-of-the-moment purchases by a customer who must first be visually attracted to the goods, thereafter be visually convinced of their freshness, and have the opportunity to smell and/or touch the goods prior to purchasing them. The container may also be specifically dimensioned to snugly sheath a flower pot so as to leave therebeneath, a surplus of film in an empty transition zone which is concealable under the flower pot. The container is made from two flat panels of heat-sealable film, each shaped as a trapezium; or from a single web folded double.
