    Abstract: An apparatus and method for selectively attaching sensor(s) or antenna(s) to a mobile device at a convenient location are provided. The mobile device includes a body and a processing unit housed within the body for running an application, where the body includes a forward end and a rearward end that supports engagement with a charging dock. In addition, the rearward end accepts engagement of a snap-on module that physically assembles to and electronically interfaces with the mobile device. The antennas or sensors are externally mounted to the mobile device at a location proximate to the forward end of the body. Further, these antennas or sensors are interconnected to the snap-on module using media-routing conduit(s) that are configured to carry signals from the antennas or sensors to the snap-on module for distribution as an input to the application running on the processing unit.

    Abstract: A power bypass connector comprises an entry body having a first end configured to mate with an amplifier. The connector also includes a female body having a first end configured to mate with a coaxial cable having a cooperating male connector. The second end of the female body is configured to mate with the second end of the entry body. A terminal is disposed within the female body and extends beyond the end of the male body. An insulator is disposed within the entry body to mechanically and electrically insulate the terminal from the entry body. A support is disposed within the connector, partially within the entry body and partially within the female body and includes a spring which biases the support and the terminal within the connector. The power bypass connector provides power and RF signal around a CATV amplifier to a cable, can conduct up to approximately 15 amperes, provides 75 ohms impedance, and provides RF performance up to approximately 860 MHz.

    Abstract: A cable television (CATV) housing having a screwless seizure mechanism for receiving the center conductor of a coaxial cable is disclosed. The mechanism is mounted on a printed circuit board adjacent an entry port of the CATV housing. One end of the seizure mechanism includes a female terminal for receiving the center conductor of a cooperating CATV coaxial cable when the cable is installed on the entry port. An entry guide is provided which insulates the female terminal as well as directs the center conductor of the CATV cable into the female terminal. A second end of the seizure mechanism is securely mounted to, and in electrical communication with, the printed circuit board. A CATV coaxial cable installed onto the entry port of the CATV housing is placed in electrical communication with internal electronics of the housing while still maintaining signal and power integrity without the need to disassemble the housing to secure the center conductor to the circuit board by a seizure screw.

    Abstract: An environmentally sealed quick disconnect RF connector for use with hardline coaxial cable. In one embodiment the RF connector includes a chassis portion for mounting on a chassis and an adaptor portion for connection to a hardline coaxial cable. The adaptor portion and the chassis portion are configured to provide a quick disconnect electrical connection. The adaptor portion includes a locking member for locking the chassis portion of the connector and the adaptor portion of the connector together once the chassis portion and the adaptor portion have been engaged. Prior to locking, the locking member permits the chassis portion of the connector and the adaptor portion of the connector to quickly engage.

The entry connector includes a clamp assembly and an entry body that are configured to be mated in combination. The clamp assembly is configured to secure the cable within the connector and to provide weather sealing between the connector and the cable. The clamp assembly is configured to preposition the cores of the cable for insertion through the entry body and into the trunk enclosure. The clamp assembly may be readily adapted to accommodate any sized existing fiber optic cables.

    Abstract: A screwless connector is provided for electrically connecting an RJ type connector with two or more insulated conductors. An exemplary embodiment of the invention includes a base having spaced grooves with pronged retainers straddling the grooves at each end for holding, indexing, and providing strain relief to conductors. It also includes a top assembly which contains fork-shaped insulation displacement contacts (IDC) in electrical communication with an integrally housed receptacle for an RJ type connector. The top assembly is mated to the bottom assembly and held by detents. The insulation is thereby pierced by grooves of the insulation displacement contacts which are prepositioned in the top assembly, and electrical interconnection is established between the conductors and an RJ type connector placed in the receptacle.
