  • Publication number: 20240059066
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for enhanced flushing of printing systems. One embodiment is a printing system that includes an ink flushing controller. The ink flushing controller is able to identify an overlap region wherein nozzles at adjacent printheads of a marking engine overlap along a widthwise direction, to detect primary nozzles that print image data within the overlap region, and to detect overlap nozzles that do not have firing instructions to eject ink within the overlap region. The ink flushing controller is further able to analyze nozzle firing data for each overlap nozzle to determine inactive firing spans for each overlap nozzle, and in response to determining that an inactive firing span for an overlap nozzle exceeds a threshold, to generate a firing instruction directing the overlap nozzle to eject ink.

  • Publication number: 20230302456
Abstract: A configurable port fitting for a container, such as a bioprocess bag, has one or more O-ring grooves and two opposing locking arms (e.g., 604). The port fitting is mounted onto the container by (i) inserting one end of the port fitting into a port in the container such that O-ring(s) form seals between the O-ring grooves and the container and (ii) rotating the port fitting to engage the locking arms with two opposing retention clips (e.g., 506) of the container. Some port fittings are fixed port fittings that provide a fixed opening into the container. Other port fittings are port sizers that receive a valve connector that enables flow control between closed and open positions. Port fittings of different sizes enable different flow rates. Some port fittings (and other connectors) have a threaded tube barb that receives a threaded tube retainer that secures tubing in place over the barb.

  • Patent number: 11273636
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for adaptive printhead cleaning. One embodiment is a printer maintenance system that includes memory to store defect information of a group of nozzles of a printer, and a processor to determine whether the group of nozzles have a number of nozzle defects that exceeds a threshold based on the defect information. In response to a determination that the threshold is exceeded, the processor determines a type of cleaning operation, a cleaning duration, and a cleaning intensity to perform for the group of nozzles based on the defect information. The processor then initiates a cleaning operation for the group of nozzles according to the type of cleaning operation, the cleaning duration, and the cleaning intensity determined for the group of nozzles.

  • Patent number: 11168940
Abstract: Systems and methods for adjustable interlacing of drying rollers in a print system. One system is an apparatus that includes first rollers that conduct heat from a heat source, and dry a web of print media as the web travels over a front side of the first rollers in a first direction. A last roller of the first rollers turns the web in a second direction. The apparatus also includes second rollers disposed a distance above the first rollers and that transport the web in the second direction. The apparatus further includes a movement mechanism that reduces the distance between the second rollers and the first rollers to cause the second rollers to occupy spaces between the first rollers so that the web traveling in the second direction contacts a back side of the first rollers to further dry the web.
