Patent number: 11715246Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods for modifying character motion for 3D animated assets (e.g., modifying character motions). In some implementations, an object to be animated is identified, where the object is a part of a three dimensional (3-D) digital model. In some implementations, a motion descriptor is identified that includes path-generating components that generate a preliminary motion path for animation of the object. The motion descriptor is modified to generate a modified motion path, where the motion descriptor is modified by deforming at least one path-generating component of the motion descriptor, and the object is animated based on the modified motion path. In some implementations, the modified motion path is transferred to another 3D animated asset (e.g., the same or a different type of 3D animated asset).Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2020Date of Patent: August 1, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Scott R. Publication number: 20230185887Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods for using markers to inform the creation of graphical objects that represent objects. In some implementations, a method includes obtaining an image comprising a two-dimensional (2D) representation of an object. A request is obtained to utilize the image to generate a three-dimensional (3D) object that represents the object. The method includes determining whether the object is associated with a marker indicating reproducible aspect(s) of the object.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2022Publication date: June 15, 2023Inventors: Scott R. Patent number: 11181128Abstract: A valve system for use with a cylinder having an extensible rod, includes first and second valve assemblies, each including an inlet/outlet port configured to selectively be coupled with a source of pressurized gas, a check valve biased toward a closed state and having a check valve body at least partially receivable within a first port of the cylinder, a flow control valve positioned in series between the inlet/outlet port and the check valve, and an inlet pilot port connected with the check valve for opening the check valve when supplied with pressurized gas. First and second pilot lines extend to the respective inlet pilot ports from respective outlet pilot ports of the opposite ones of the first and second valve assemblies. When pressurized gas is supplied to the inlet/outlet port of a valve assembly, pressurized gas is also supplied to the opposite inlet pilot port.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2021Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: Aladdin Engineering and Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Natalie E. Bell, Edward R. Horn, David M. Matz, Gregory F. Matz, Scott R. Jones

Patent number: 11037354Abstract: Some implementations involve, on a computing device having a processor and a memory, creating a model of a jointed 3D asset that includes at least one joint that connects a first object to a second object, where a first end of the first object connects to a surface of a deformable coupler such that the first object is capable of rotating relative to the second object, and a second end of the second object connects to the surface of the deformable coupler such that the second object is capable of rotating relative to the first object. In various implementations, applying a motion to the model of the jointed 3D asset deforms the deformable coupler to allow translation of the first object with respect to the second object while allowing the first object and second object to rotate.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2020Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Scott R. Patent number: 5630498Abstract: An apparatus for positioning food components in a container that is moving along a conveyor. The apparatus has a paddle member and a link. The paddle member is movable between a first position within the container and a second position outside of the container. The paddle is also pivotable when moved between the first position and the second position. The paddle member is adapted to engage the food components and move the food components to a selected location in the container as the container moves along the conveyor. The link moves the paddle member between the first position and the second position and pivots the paddle member as the paddle member is moved between the first position and the second position.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1995Date of Patent: May 20, 1997Assignee: Luigino's, Inc.Inventors: Carry Montgomery, Larry Newman, Scott R.
