Patent number: 8223151Abstract: A method of analysis of long record length data using mark duration includes displaying together with a portion of the long record length data each mark that identifies a specified feature of interest together with the mark duration. Associated with the mark may be text identifying the feature of interest, measurement values associated with the duration of the mark, or a combination thereof. Multiple sets of marks may be generated for the long record length data, which sets may be combined to generate new marks with duration. The marks also may be filtered to further refine the marks to be displayed according to user specified criteria. In this way analysis of long record length data representing an acquired signal may be readily automated so a user may move from one interesting event to another without having to pan through the long record length data.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventors: Keith D. Rule, Thomas L. Freeman, Daniel E. Taylor, Timothy D. Margeson, Scott R. Ketterer

Patent number: 7847792Abstract: A simple, integrated control for pan and zoom of a display of data represented by a very long data record is in the form of a control knob having an outer ring for controlling pan and an inner knob for controlling a zoom factor. A zoom function is turned ON either by turning the inner knob (setting the zoom factor to a default value) or by (i) pressing an adjacent zoom or pan button or (ii) turning the outer ring (setting the zoom factor to a prior value when the zoom function was turned OFF). The zoom function may be turned OFF by turning the inner knob to set the zoom factor to 1× or by pressing the zoom button. The outer ring has individual positions divided into two groups: one group for controlling pan rate within a zoom window displaying a portion of the very long data record defined by a zoom box within a main window displaying the very long data record; and the other group for controlling pan rate of the zoom box within the main window for rapid movement from one end of the record to another.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2006Date of Patent: December 7, 2010Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventors: Scott R. Ketterer, Lance H. Forsberg, Lynne A. Fitzsimmons, Evan A. Dickinson, Steven C. Herring, Kenneth P. Dobyns, Keith D. Rule

Patent number: 7516028Abstract: A test and measurement instrument includes a memory configured to store a digitized signal, a display configured to display the digitized signal, a mark interface configured to generate a mark creation signal, a processor coupled to the memory, the display, and the mark interface. The processor is configured to identify a feature of the digitized signal and create a mark indicating the feature and the digitized signal in response to the mark creation signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2006Date of Patent: April 7, 2009Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventors: Keith D. Patent number: 7017435Abstract: A hand-held probing adapter secures a measurement probing system having a probe body coupled to a probing tip member via at least a first coaxial cable. The adapter has a housing with an interior cavity exposed at opening in opposing ends of the housing. The housing has a first portion at one end of the interior cavity for receiving the probe body and a second portion at the other end of the cavity for receiving the probing tip member. The first portion of the housing has means for securing the probe body in the housing, such as rib and slot combination. The second portion also has means for securing the probe tip member in the housing, such as with a pin in the interior cavity of the housing engaging a slot in the probe tip member. A portion of the probe tip member is exposed at one of the openings in the housing. Compliant members disposed in the second portion of the interior cavity providing axial and lateral rotation movement of the probing tip member.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2004Date of Patent: March 28, 2006Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventors: William R. Patent number: 5999722Abstract: A method of automatic and user intuitive cataloging of removable media on a computer. The method does not require the user to launch an application to catalog because it operates within the existing system software and does not require a user to learn to operate a separate cataloging program. This applies to cataloging as well as searching entries. The method presents the data in the catalog in the same way that actual files on the computers hard disk or start up volume are presented. The method includes modifying and/or creating pointer files so that when activated it can remember where the original file is located, even the file is on a volume that is not accessible to the computer when the pointer file is activated. The pointer file created by this method can be resolved when accessed through the operating system interface or from within an application, just like actual files.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1996Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Assignee: Iomega CorporationInventors: Scott R. Patent number: 4878665Abstract: A golf cup advertising device and method of assembly is provided. The device includes a golf cup unit having an axis, an insert disc for mounting within the golf cup unit at the bottom thereof and twist-on connection means for attaching the disc to the cup unit. The advertisement is printed on an upper face of the disc for viewing by a golfer or other person, after the flag is removed from the hole. The cup unit includes a cylindrical outer wall, which has an inner ledge, a tubular inner wall, and a plurality of ribs which connect the tubular inner wall to the cylindrical outer wall. The upper surface of the ribs and ledge having an angle of inclination sloping downwardly toward the center thereof. The disc has a lower surface with an angle of inclination which is slightly less than a rib surface angle, so that the disc can bear on the ledge before its assembly to the cup unit. The disc has a radially inner portion having a cylindrical inner surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1988Date of Patent: November 7, 1989Assignee: Boudreau/Darque, Inc.Inventors: Louis H.
