  • Patent number: 7210963
Abstract: The described embodiments provide mobile electronic devices and associated methods for securely maintaining a connected relationship between device housings. These embodiments include a first housing having at least one first engagement portion and a second housing having at least one second engagement portion, where the second engagement portion is movable between a disconnected state and a connected state relative to the first engagement portion. Further, the second engagement portion is also movable a predetermined engagement distance. Additionally, a limiting structure is positionable adjacent to at least one of the first housing and the second housing such that the limiting structure prevents the second engagement portion from moving the predetermined engagement distance after achieving the connected state.

  • Patent number: 7133222
Abstract: The described embodiments provide devices and methods for securing a lens member in a mobile electronic device. The lens member is positionable between a front housing and a rear housing of the device such that inner surfaces of the housings both exert a biasing force on the lens member such that the lens member is substantially immovable relative to the inner surfaces. As such, the lens member is securely fixed within the housings and cannot be removed or separated from one or both housings without evidence of tampering.

  • Patent number: 5371791
Abstract: A fastener for fastening at least two tandemly-positioned surfaces, such as opposing surfaces of a housing assembly, theretogether. The fastener includes first and second hook members which are affixed in a defined relationship with top and bottom surfaces which are to be affixed theretogether. A clip formed of a multi-slotted plate member having slotted openings of dimensions corresponding to the dimensions of the hook members is fastened about the hook members to affix the hook members, and hence, the top and bottom surfaces theretogether. By affixing the clip to a substrate positioned between the top and bottom surfaces, the single clip may be utilized to fasten the substrate in position between the top and bottom surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5233506
Abstract: A fastener for fastening front and rear housing portions of a housing assembly theretogether. A resilient tongue member is affixed to a surface of the rear housing portion to extend upwardly therefrom. A beveled, top edge surface of the resilient tongue member defines a ramped, face surface which extends to a back-angled, force-receiving surface. A hook member positioned beneath the front housing portion is positioned to permit mated engagement with the tongue member. The hook member is permitted elastic deformation responsive to application of forces thereupon by the ramped, face surface of the resilient tongue member during translation of the hook and tongue members into a fastening position. Once positioned in a fastening position, the hook member returns to a nondeformed state, to fasten the tongue member in position thereat, thereby to fasten the front and rear housing portions theretogether.

  • Patent number: 5205751
Abstract: An electrically-conductive, elastomeric connector for electrically connecting a circuit path of an electrical circuit disposed upon a substrate having an electrically-conductive edge portion which forms a portion of the electrical circuit with an electrically-conductive cover which covers at least a portion of the substrate. The elastomeric connector comprises a tubular-shaped body elongated along a longitudinal axis thereof, and a central aperture extending through the tubular-shaped body. Compressive forces exerted against the tubular-shaped body when positioned against the electrically-conductive cover causes seating of the tubular-shaped body against the electrically-conductive cover. First and second claw arms extend beyond a side surface positioned in opposition to the seating surface of the tubular-shaped body. The claw arms permit affixation of the tubular-shaped body to an edge portion of the substrate.
