Patent number: 11105580Abstract: A limb pad assembly for an archery bow includes an elongated body that articulates about a lateral axis and/or has a curved working surface that contacts a limb of the bow spaced from a riser of the bow by the limb pad assembly. The articulation and/or curved working surface serve to distribute stress along the limb during drawing and firing of the bow to reduce noise and vibration during firing of the bow and to reduce material fatigue in the bow limb, preventing premature limb failure.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2019Date of Patent: August 31, 2021Assignee: Martin Outdoors, LLCInventor: Scott Romero

Patent number: 11054228Abstract: A hybrid mechanical broadhead for an archery bow and arrow (e.g., recurve bow, compound bow, or crossbow) has at least one pivoting blade. In a retracted position, a cutting edge of the pivoting blade folds forward into an elongated body of the broadhead. A hook protrusion and blunt edge are externally exposed in the retracted position, and the hook protrusion is configured to rotate the blade to a deployed position, exposing the cutting edge of the blade. The blade may be locked into the deployed position by tightening a threaded fastener onto the blade or by placing an annular band around the hook protrusion and elongated body. An annular collar may be used to place the band about the hook portion, and forcing the blade into the retracted position moves the band forward on the broadhead, securing the blade in the retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2020Date of Patent: July 6, 2021Assignee: RRAD, LLCInventor: Scott Romero

Publication number: 20210140736Abstract: An improved archery bow includes an improved limb pocket assembly. When properly assembled, the limb pocket assembly includes a generally rectangular pocket body, at least one elongated bow limb, and at least one cylindrical fastener for aligning and securing the limb within the pocket body. When fully assembled, a limb screw positions the limb pocket assembly on the riser and secures the limb pocket to the riser of the archery bow. The limb pocket assembly disclosed herein substantially eliminates movement or shifting of the limbs within the pocket while shooting the bow and between shots, thereby providing a user with increased accuracy while shooting the bow.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2021Publication date: May 13, 2021Inventor: Scott Romero

Patent number: 10837742Abstract: A broadhead for an arrow has improved opening characteristics and an adjustable cut span such that an archer may adjust cutting span of the main cutting blades of the broadhead to balance penetration with cut width. That is, cut width may be reduced to increase penetration depending on the type of target the archer or hunter is faced with. The arrow includes a collar threaded on the main body of the broadhead to limit the rearward travel of the main cutting blades as they pivot open from the main body of the broadhead upon impact with a target, such that moving the collar by rotating it about the main body adjusts the angle and cut width of the main cutting blades in their deployed position. The broadhead further includes forward cutting surfaces on the main blades configured to open the blades upon impact with the target.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2019Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: RRAD, LLCInventor: Scott Romero

Publication number: 20200208936Abstract: A mass based tuning system for an archery bow includes rotatable members or cams of the archery bow and a plurality of weights configured to removably attach to the rotatable members (e.g., cams). Modern compound bows have rotatable members (e.g. cams) that provide energy from bow limbs to the bowstring during release or firing of the bow. The shape of the rotatable members has the greatest effect on the energy delivery profile of the bow (i.e., energy or acceleration over time during release or firing of the bow), and mass distribution about the rotatable member has the second highest effect on the energy delivery profile of the bow. Weights are added to (or removed from) corresponding recesses in or holes through the rotatable member to alter the energy delivery profile of the bow in order to fine tune a bow to a given arrow.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 31, 2019Publication date: July 2, 2020Inventor: Scott Romero

Publication number: 20200158461Abstract: A tensioned cam assembly for a compound archery bow is disclosed. In one embodiment, the tensioned cam assembly includes a cam axle, pair of externally threaded set screws, and a pair of nuts. The cam axles has a first threaded end and a second threaded end opposite the first threaded end. Each nut includes a threaded bore extending therethrough in which the first or second threaded end of the cam axle is removably receivable. Each nut also includes a threaded aperture in which one set screw of the pair of set screws is removably receivable to selectively retain said nut in a desired position on said cam axle.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2019Publication date: May 21, 2020Inventor: Scott Romero
