  • Publication number: 20220176675
Abstract: The present subject matter relates to a label lid for sealing an opening in a packaging container. The label comprises a facestock layer, a removable adhesive layer, a heat-seal layer, and an optional release coating, wherein the removable adhesive layer does not include a release liner. The removable adhesive layer can be coated on the heat-seal layer or the facestock layer. Optionally, a release coating can be applied to the heat-seal layer or the facestock layer. The composition of the layers used in specific arrangements provides unique performance characteristics for the label for improved sealing, reclosure, and matrix stripping properties.

  • Patent number: 5209972
Abstract: A multiple layer packaging film is based on three layers and wherein polyethylene terephthalate is one of the layers. All three layers are oriented. The three layers may be used as a stand-alone film, or may be combined with other layers to achieve additional beneficial properties. Desirably, the polyethylene terephthalate may be metallized, then laminated to a reverse printed layer of oriented polypropylene or polyester.

  • Patent number: 4501797
Abstract: An unbalanced polymeric film has a plurality of adjacent molecularly oriented layers. The first, second, and third layers are molecularly oriented, and are, respectively (1) polypropylene, (2) anhydride modified polypropylene and (3) a barrier layer of either ethylene vinyl alcohol or nylon or a blend of ethylene vinyl alcohol and nylon. A fourth layer is optionally oriented and serves as a heat sealable layer having good adhesion to the barrier layer. In a more sophisticated structure, the fourth layer is oriented and serves an adhesive layer between the barrier layer and a fifth sealant layer. The fifth layer is then optionally oriented. A process for making the films comprises heating the exterior surfaces of the two surface layers to a temperature between 10.degree. and 100.degree. F. below the respective heat sealing temperature of each of the respective surface layers, stretching the so-heated film, annealing the stretched film, and cooling the annealed film.

  • Patent number: 4501798
Abstract: An unbalanced multiple layer polymeric film having good interfacial adhesions has a first molecularly oriented polymeric surface layer of nylon on one surface thereof, and a second molecularly oriented polymeric surface layer of a heat sealable ethylene-based polymer or copolymer on the other surface thereof. Films are disclosed having interior functional layers of EVOH and HDPE, along with adhesive polymers selected for good interfacial adhesion after orientation of the film in the machine direction. Processes for making and orienting the films are also disclosed.
