A rotating group is mounted in the movable frame. The rotating group has a passageway therethrough. Roller arms are pivotally mounted around a perimeter of the rotating group. The roller arms concentrically clamp the log relative to the rotating group to thereby rotate the log about its longitudinal axis simultaneously with selective rotation of the rotating group. At least one actuator horizontally and vertically translates the movable frame relative to the mainframe.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide methods and systems for authenticating an enrolled user of a biometric authentication and/or identification system having an exception mode, in which the enrolled user submits a temporary password during authentication. The temporary password is only generated if the enrolled user's identity is verified and the person authorizing a change to the exception mode submits a valid biometric identifier.

Abstract: A method of providing data from a data repository to a client application, comprises receiving an initial query from a client application and obtaining a first set of results from the data repository to the initial query. If the total number of results of the first set is greater than a predetermined number for provision as a single page, a second set of results is stored in memory and a page of results is provided. An indication of the total number of results to the initial query is provided as well as an indication of the position of the results of the page within the set of results, and an indication of the range of the results for which subsequent queries will return results consistent with the initial query. This provides a results paging model to allow a client application to page through a large set of query results, with transparent indication of the consistency between the pages of results.

Abstract: A hierarchical digital signature method is provided by which different levels of data elements of a data entry are processed in turn to derive function values (for example hash function values) for data elements in the level which are to form part of the digital signature. All function values for one level are combined in a further function to provide an additional function value, and the additional function value is used in the processing of data elements in the next level nearer to the root. This provides a digital signature which can use only selected data elements of a data entry, and which is not sensitive to the ordering of the data entry structure.

At least one property 30 links a pair of nodes, one node being a parent and one being a child. An indexing algorithm indexes each indexable property pointing to a resource as related to any respective indexable nodes linked to the node to which the indexable property is attached through a chain of indexable links from child to parent through intermediate nodes, all of which are non-indexable.

Abstract: A cell-phone holster designed to be worn over the shoulder and carry communications equipment along the torso and under the arm of the user. Equipment to be carried will include but not be exclusive to: cell phones, hand-held computers, compact disc players, MP3 digital players. The holster is held in place by use of a series of adjustable straps designed to be worn across the shoulders and back and sides of the user. Communication gear pouches are detachable and interchangeable from main shoulder harness. The holster is designed to allow movement in tight quarters where a hip or other holster is binding or impractical.

Abstract: A mechanical user-interface for a wireless communications device (including cell phones, mobile phones, and computer-based wireless communications devices) enabling a motor-vehicle operator to keep both hands on the steering wheel while manually initiating, receiving, terminating, fielding or otherwise transacting wireless communications. This mechanical user interface (MUI) may be understood to operate as a cell-phone and/or wireless-communication keypad coupled to an automobile's steering wheel. By use of the MUI, a vehicle operator may then manually initiate, receive, terminate, field, and otherwise transact phone calls/communications via a host or integrated cell-phone or other wireless communications device, thereby eliminating the need to take his hands from the wheel in the context of these operations. The MUI keypad includes, but is not limited to the many features of cell phone and computer-based communication devices.
