Publication number: 20240082482Abstract: A pressure switch is provided and includes an elastic membrane disposed such that pressure from fluid within a fluid path deforms the elastic membrane toward a plunger, thereby moving the plunger. The plunger is disposed between the membrane and an upper plate and is moveable along an axis extending between the membrane and the upper plate. A threshold pressure on the membrane from the fluid within the fluid path deforms the membrane, thereby moving the plunger toward the upper plate.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2022Publication date: March 14, 2024Applicant: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Andrew J. Publication number: 20240017006Abstract: Devices and methods detect and mitigate pre-occlusion leak pressures within a dispense stroke of an infusion device. An infusion pump obtains pump measurements indicative of pressure, and controls its pump mechanism to pause when the pump measurements satisfy a pre-occlusion pressure threshold. Additional pump measurements are obtained during the pause and pressure-related conditions can abate during the pause. The dispense stroke is resumed by the infusion pump when the pump measurements no longer satisfy pre-occlusion pressure criteria, and can be paused again. The number and frequency of pauses, analysis of pump measurements, and resumption of a dispense stroke can be predetermined, or dynamically determined. Pauses can also be preset regardless of current pressure conditions. Pausing the pump to increase the samples or sampling rate of a measured parameter indicative of pressure (e.g., pump motor current) provides a much higher resolution for detecting an occlusion.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2021Publication date: January 18, 2024Applicant: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Scott STEWART, Scott COREY, Kun LI

Publication number: 20240009389Abstract: Devices and methods detect an empty reservoir condition in an infusion pump using pump measurements such as motor current during aspiration. An infusion pump obtains and analyzes pump measurements indicative of pressure during aspiration and determines whether pump measurements satisfy metrics corresponding to an empty reservoir condition such as pressure threshold corresponding to a pump measurement value exceeded when the reservoir is empty, a range of pump measurement values indicating a pressure above normal operating pressure of the pump, and a designated shape of a signal waveform corresponding to the pump measurements indicating a pressure above normal operating pressure of the pump. Devices and methods can be configured to disregard one or more of the pump measurements obtained during one or more portions of the duration of the aspirate operation characterized by transient increases therein from normal operation of the pumping mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2021Publication date: January 11, 2024Applicant: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventor: Scott STEWART

Publication number: 20240001031Abstract: Devices and methods are provided to improve accuracy of occlusion detection based on measured data in a fluid delivery device by using dead band normalization of loaded measured data to unloaded measured data. The loaded measured data and unloaded measured data are obtained during the same fluid movement operation or stroke of the fluid delivery device. The dead band normalization can be performed during an aspiration operation or a dispensing operation. An interface in the fluid delivery device that is close to the fluid driving mechanism and that can at least temporarily move under control but without moving fluid can be used to identify when to generate unloaded measured data during a fluid movement operation for dead band normalization of loaded measured data measured during that fluid movement operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2021Publication date: January 4, 2024Applicant: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Scott STEWART, Scott COREY, Kun LI
