    Abstract: A low energy electromagnetic relay and method of reducing power consumption in electromagnetic relays. The electromagnetic relay includes an electrical coil having a first end connected to a first contact and a second end connected to first side of a normally closed switch, a second side of the switch connected to a second contact; a resistor connected between the first end of the coil and the second contact; and an armature configured to move to an actuated position and open the first switch when power is applied across the first and the second contacts.
