  • Patent number: 6992414
Abstract: A permanent magnet DC motor 10 having electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression includes a metal motor housing 12 and a brush card assembly 34. The brush card assembly includes brushes 20 and leads 24 constructed and arranged to be coupled with a source of power to power the motor. A brush card housing 14 has a first portion 18 housing the brushes and a second portion 22, integral with the first portion, and housing the leads. A printed circuit board 26 is mounted with respect to the second portion of the housing and carries at least one electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression component 30 constructed and arranged to suppress EMI generated by the motor. The leads are electrically connected to the printed circuit board so that current can be provided through the printed circuit board to the brushes.

  • Publication number: 20060012180
Abstract: A starter/generator system for a gas turbine engine used in aeronautical applications that couples a single dynamoelectric machine to the gas turbine engine through a torque converter in a starting mode, and then disengages the torque converter and engages the engine to the dynamoelectric machine through an adjustable speed transmission in a generating mode after the engine reaches self-sustaining speed, wherein the speed of the adjustable speed transmission is set to match the frequency of AC generated by the dynamoelectric machine with on-board electrical equipment requirements to suit flight conditions.

  • Publication number: 20060012179
Abstract: A starter/generator system for a gas turbine engine used in aeronautical applications that couples a single dynamoelectric machine to the gas turbine engine through a torque converter in a starting mode, and engages the engine to the dynamoelectric machine through a mechanical differential in a generating mode after the engine reaches self-sustaining speed and combines the output of the engine and the torque converter to regulate the frequency of AC generated by the dynamoelectric machine within a range of frequencies suitable for on-board electrical equipment by dynamically regulating the flow of hydraulic fluid to the torque converter.

  • Patent number: 6983924
Abstract: An ortho-planar spring has a platform movably coupled to a base and being movable linearly with respect to the base along at least a portion of an axial direction perpendicular to both a base surface and a platform surface. A resilient and flexible connecting structure is connected to and between the base and platform. The connecting structure is bendable to develop (i) an axial force along the axial direction to bias the platform in a stable position with respect to the base, and (ii) non-axial forces which substantially sum to zero to preserve the orientation of the platform with respect to the base. Thus, the spring is very compact and does not have rotation between the deflecting ends. The spring may be associated with a valve opening, and a button for restricting flow through the valve opening, to bias the button at a position with respect to the valve opening.

  • Publication number: 20050278188
Abstract: An electronic processor system for use in processing cash transactions comprising an electronic processor and a database, the processor comprising: i) an interface for receiving requests for generating coded numbers representing cash and receiving requests that numbers previously allocated may be redeemed, the interface including a message format storage area storing a plurality of prescribed message formats and determining by reference to the stored message formats the format of a received message, a holding memory for holding requests of specified message formats so that single requests for generating a plurality of numbers in a batch can be processed.
