  • Publication number: 20230123179
Abstract: A figure skating boot has a boot body formed of a structural, monocoque material including a sole portion, inner and outer side wall portions, and ankle portions for receiving a user foot therein. Lower mounting surfaces at a bottom of the boot body support the lower mounting frame of a skate blade thereon. An upper cuff member formed of a material which is less rigid than the monocoque material of the boot body is supported on the boot body such that a rear portion is fixed to the heel end of the boot body and side portions extend forwardly from the rear portion at opposing sides of the boot body to partly overlap the ankle portions. One or more fastening anchors on each side portion allow the cuff member to be fastened about the lower leg of the user while allow some flexing movement relative to the boot body.

  • Patent number: 11213737
Abstract: A figure skating boot has a monocoque structure formed of monocoque material including a sole portion to receive the foot thereon, inner and outer side wall portions, a heel cup portion about the heel, two ankle portions extending over the ankles, and front and rear mounting surfaces below the sole portion for connection to front and rear ends of a mounting frame, for example the mounting frame of a skate blade. A heel member is formed separately from the boot and is supported by the monocoque material to extend downwardly from the heel end of the sole portion so that the rear mounting surface is at the bottom of the heel member. Each ankle portion is joined to the respective side wall portion by a relief junction enabling the ankle portions of the monocoque structure to be flexed relative to the side wall portions of the monocoque structure.

  • Patent number: 10894200
Abstract: An ice skate blade assembly for a skate, includes a blade holder that releasably receives an ice skate blade therein. The blade has first and second hooks projecting upwardly from respective first and second ends of the blade. The holder has a bridge portion with a groove to receive the main portion of the blade therein and first and second pedestals at either end of the bridge portion with cavities to receive the first and second hooks therein. An actuator mounted within the second pedestal includes a hook-receiving portion slidably movable along a curved sliding path between one end portion parallel to the longitudinal axis of the assembly in a locked position retaining the second hook thereon and an opposing released position. The actuator is recessed into the pedestal and includes a tool receiving aperture so that a tool is used to displace the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20190133256
Abstract: A skate boot body has a lower boot portion for receiving the foot and an upper boot portion for receiving the ankle and a portion of a lower leg, in which the upper and lower boot portions are rigidly connected. The lower boot portion fastens the foot relative to the rigid boot body using laces. The upper boot portion fastens the lower leg portion relative to the rigid boot body using an independent upper strap. The upper strap includes a resilient portion, whereby a circumference of the upper portion of the skate boot body about the ankle varies as the resilient portion of the adjustable upper strap is resiliently deformed by flexing of the user's ankle. The resilient upper strap provides an optimal balance of rigid support between the skate boot and user, while still allowing the user to comfortably flex their ankle through a large range of motion.
