  • Patent number: 8691301
Abstract: A self gassing composition comprising at least one surfactant and a fermentation base including a gas producing organism and at least one sugar is disclosed. Use of a nonionic surfactant in the self gassing composition allows the fermentation base to continue reacting and producing gas. Additionally, a personal care cleansing product and method for storing and delivering an aqueous composition having at least one surfactant and pressurized gas dissolved therein is disclosed. In one aspect, the composition is stored in an internal reservoir in a container such that when a sealing device is removed from a valveless opening, the composition foams and plumes out the opening of the container as the gas dissolved in the composition is released. In addition to the self gassing composition, a pressurized gas may be injected into a surfactant composition to produce the gas pressurized cleaning composition.

  • Publication number: 20130333120
Abstract: A cleaning composition that can discharge the color of blood, menstrual fluids, or other organic stains is provided. In particular, the present invention achieves a balance between control of unwanted liquid spreading by lateral wicking on a stained textile fabric to lessen the size of wet spots and maintaining the cleaning efficacy of the composition by means of specific kinds of thickening agents. The composition includes an oxidizing agent such as peroxides, a cell-lysing agent, a chelating agent, an antioxidant, a thickener, and other optional ingredients that are selectively employed to achieve an aqueous based composition that exhibits good shelf stability and stain removal properties. The thickening agent may include a cellulosic or clay material, starch, gum, fatty acid, fatty alcohol, hydrophilic colloidal particles, polyoxyethylene glycol or polyoxyethylene glycol derivatives including fatty acid esters and ethers, or a combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20130292044
Abstract: Wiping products, such as facial tissues, contain an interior temperature change composition and an exterior hydrophilic lotion composition that can provide a cooling sensation when contacted with the skin of a user. The temperature change composition, for instance, can contain one or more phase change agents that undergo a phase change at slightly elevated temperatures. The phase change agents, in one embodiment, can have a relatively high heat of fusion. When undergoing a phase change, the phase change agents absorb heat and thereby provide a cooling feeling to the skin of a user. The hydrophilic lotion composition may contain a carrier and a thermo-reversible gelling agent. The hydrophilic lotion composition maintains the temperature change composition within the tissue and helps to prevent skin irritation.

  • Patent number: 8551517
Abstract: The present disclosure comprises a polymeric substrate that provides multiple releases of active agents. A substrate for multiple phase delivery of active agents is provided having a first polymer matrix layer having a first active agent disposed therein, a second polymer matrix layer having a second active agent disposed therein, and a coacervate layer disposed between the first polymer matrix layer and the second polymer matrix layer. Selected first and second active agents are included in the first and second polymer matrices such that as the first and second polymer matrices dissolve, the active agents are released. Multiple phase active agent release is achieved by constructing multiple layers of a polymer matrix containing an active agents formed with polymers having different solubility characteristics or with active agents at different concentration levels.

  • Patent number: 8481480
Abstract: Formulations having anti-adherent properties are disclosed herein. The anti-adherent formulation described herein acts to prevent the adherence of menses and/or fecal material to the skin in the labial and perianal regions during and after menstruation or defecation, respectively. The anti-adherent formulation contains a carrier, from about 0.1% by weight to about 10.0% by weight of a quaternary ammonium compound, and from about 0.5% by weight to about 10.0% by weight of a fatty alcohol. The anti-adherent formulation may be applied to the targeted surface either directly, in liquid form, such as by a spray bottle or similar packaging capable of delivering a liquid formulation in a relatively uniform amount over the full surface to be covered. Alternatively, the formulation may be applied to the targeted surface by a “wet” wipe or wiper.

  • Patent number: 8318654
Abstract: A cleansing composition is described. The cleansing composition generally contains an antimicrobial agent, a heating agent, and a thermochromic agent. During use, the heating agent heats the composition so that the antimicrobial agent becomes more effective. The thermochromic agent, on the other hand, changes the color of the composition as it is heated in order to indicate to a user that the composition is at a desired temperature. In an alternative embodiment, instead of containing a heating agent, a heating source can be used to heat the composition. The heating source can be, for instance, an electrical resistance heater.

  • Patent number: 8215822
Abstract: An ultrasonic mixing system having a treatment chamber in which antimicrobial agents, particularly, hydrophobic antimicrobial agents, can be mixed with one or more formulations is disclosed. Specifically, the treatment chamber has an elongate housing through which a formulation and antimicrobial agents flow longitudinally from a first inlet port and a second inlet port to an outlet port thereof. An elongate ultrasonic waveguide assembly extends within the housing and is operable at a predetermined ultrasonic frequency to ultrasonically energize the formulation and antimicrobial agents within the housing. An elongate ultrasonic horn of the waveguide assembly is disposed at least in part intermediate the inlet and outlet ports, and has a plurality of discrete agitating members in contact with and extending transversely outward from the horn intermediate the inlet and outlet ports in longitudinally spaced relationship with each other.
