  • Patent number: 11662843
Abstract: Technologies for interfacing an input overlay device with a touch screen of a computing device are disclosed. A computing device includes a touch screen and at least one processor to execute instructions to: determine parameters associated with an input overlay device overlying the touch screen, the input overlay device separate from the computing device, the parameters to identify a first area of the touch screen and a second area of the touch screen different than the first area, the first area corresponding to an area of the touch screen covered by the input overlay device; detect a position of a touch on the touch screen; if the position of the touch is in the first area, determine an input for the computing device based on the position of the touch; and if the position of the touch is in the second area, ignore the touch.

  • Patent number: 10921912
Abstract: Technologies for interfacing an input overlay device with a touch screen display of a compute device are disclosed. A compute device may detect that an input overlay device has been placed on top of its touch screen display. After detecting the input overlay device, the computing device determines one or more parameters for the input overlay device. The computing device may then detect an additional touch on the portion of the touch screen display currently covered by the input overlay device. The compute device can then determine an input of a user based on the position of the touch and the one or more parameters of the input overlay device.

  • Patent number: 9138265
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for inserting elongated fixation elements into screw implants include one or components for visualizing the insertion process from a unique vantage point. One apparatus features a steering apparatus for adjusting the position of a receiver element on a screw implant, so that an elongated fixation element, such as a rod, can be inserted through a transverse passage in the receiver element. The steering apparatus may include an extension tube and a steering control member coupled to the extension tube. The extension tube may be configured for coupling to the receiver element, and the steering control member may be configured for coupling to the extension tube. The steering control member may include an opening for receiving an endoscope. The endoscope may be used to visually monitor the elongated fixation element as it is inserted into the transverse passage of the receiver element.

  • Publication number: 20060229627
Abstract: An instrument for use in a procedure for inserting a spinal implant between human vertebrae may include a shaft and an end member. The end member may rotate with respect to the shaft. An angle of the end member with respect to the shaft may be varied when the end member is in a disc space between the human vertebrae. The instrument may include a slide for securing the end member at selected angles relative to the shaft. The end member may be separable from the shaft when the end member is in a selected orientation with the shaft. An instrument kit may include a shaft assembly and modular end members for various steps in a surgical procedure, such as disc space preparation, disc space evaluation, and spinal implant insertion.

  • Publication number: 20050027360
Abstract: A spinal implant may be used to stabilize a portion of a spine. The implant may promote bone growth between adjacent vertebrae that fuses the vertebrae together. An implant may include an opening through a height of a body of the implant. The body of the implant may include curved sides. A top and/or a bottom of the implant may include protrusions that contact and/or engage vertebral surfaces to prevent backout of the implant from the disc space. A variety of instruments may be used to prepare a disc space and insert an implant. The instruments may include, but are not limited to, a distractor, a rasp, and one or more guides. The implant and instruments may be supplied in an instrument kit.
