  • Patent number: 12596199
Abstract: GPS-based position reporting suffers from probabilistic error. The system and methods discussed herein reduce uncertainty by mapping a geometric figure that encompasses a GPS-based reported location and that bounds corresponding predetermined-as-more-probable true locations (MPTL's) among possible locations for the source of the reported location. The mapped figure is overlaid on a relatively accurate mapping of substantially adjacent polygonal areas. Areas of overlap are used for picking among the areas, the polygonal area most likely to be occupied by the source. In one embodiment, the polygonal areas are closely packed parking spots in a parking lot, garage or other like structure, the source is a customer's mobile phone and an attendant is tasked with quickly delivering ordered goods to the customer's parking spot.

  • Patent number: 11609319
Abstract: A radio presence-advertising signal (PAS) a PAS emitter is simultaneously received at two or more co-located directional antennas that are coupled to respective radio receivers. The antennas have reception sensitivity lobes that overlap to define a region of interest at the overlap. Substantially cotemporaneous signal strength indications are obtained from the radio receivers. A difference signal representative of a difference between two of the obtained signal strength indications of the respective antennas is generated. An average signal representative of a running average of two or more of the obtained signal strength indications is generated and used to produce a normalized confidence indicator indicating a level of confidence that the PAS emitter is disposed inside (e.g., centered in) the region of interest or alternatively indicating a level of confidence that the PAS emitter is disposed outside the region of interest. Action is taken or avoided based on the confidence signal.

  • Patent number: 11494749
Abstract: Technology is disclosed for automatically building an expandable invoice for incurred charges based on recognition of charge-incurring activities by persons whose specific identities are not known via the activity recognition process. A separate process detects location of sourcing and time for a Patron-presence and Patron-identifying Advertising radio Signal (P/PAS) repeatedly broadcast by a P/PAS emitter possessed by each participating patron. Records from the two processes are matched and combined based on substantial proximity in time and space for the activity recognition and the presence detection. Payment on a pay-go-whenever-ready (PGWeR) basis is enabled with use of the built invoice. A patron can pay and leave whenever ready to do so without need for intervention by an on premise staff member.

  • Publication number: 20200084577
Abstract: The disclosure relates to technology for determining a location of a user in a physical venue, the method comprising receiving, at a central processor, a signal from a wireless transmitter in the user's possession, the signal containing an encoded message and additional metadata, determining a location of the wireless transmitter in the physical venue based on the encoded message and the additional metadata, and outputting the location.

  • Patent number: 10484831
Abstract: The disclosure relates to technology for determining a location of a user in a physical venue without need for the user to carry extraneous devices. The method includes installing a background peripheral service (BPS) in a personal mobile device routinely carried by the user where the BPS outputs a temporary ID sequence (TID) when activated. The signal strength of the TID is measured at scanner locations each time the BPS is activated and the measured strengths are used to determine the location of the user. The TID is used to identify an order placed by the user for goods and/or services. This allows a human server to locate the user and deliver the goods and/or services to that user.

  • Patent number: 9722492
Abstract: A direct current (DC)-DC converter that includes a first switching converter and a multi-stage filter is disclosed. The multi-stage filter includes at least a first inductance (L) capacitance (C) filter and a second LC filter coupled in series between the first switching converter and a DC-DC converter output. The first LC filter has a first LC time constant and the second LC filter has a second LC time constant, which is less than the first LC time constant. The first LC filter includes a first capacitive element having a first self-resonant frequency, which is about equal to a first notch frequency of the multi-stage filter.

  • Patent number: 9577590
Abstract: A direct current (DC)-DC converter, which includes a charge pump buck power supply and a buck power supply is disclosed. The charge pump buck power supply includes a charge pump buck converter, a first inductive element, and an energy storage element. The charge pump buck converter and the first inductive element are coupled in series between a DC power supply, such as a battery, and the energy storage element. The buck power supply includes a buck converter, a second inductive element, and the energy storage element. The buck converter and the second inductive element are coupled in series between the DC power supply and the energy storage element. As such, the charge pump buck power supply and the buck power supply share the energy storage element.

  • Patent number: 9553550
Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) switch semiconductor die and an RF supporting structure are disclosed. The RF switch semiconductor die is attached to the RF supporting structure. The RF switch semiconductor die has a first edge and a second edge, which may be opposite from the first edge. The RF supporting structure has a group of alpha supporting structure connection nodes, which is adjacent to the first edge; a group of beta supporting structure connection nodes, which is adjacent to the second edge; and an alpha AC grounding supporting structure connection node, which is adjacent to the second edge. When the group of alpha supporting structure connection nodes and the alpha AC grounding supporting structure connection node are active, the group of beta supporting structure connection nodes are inactive.

  • Patent number: 9362825
Abstract: RF PA circuitry and a DC-DC converter, which includes an RF PA envelope power supply and DC-DC control circuitry, are disclosed. The PA envelope power supply provides an envelope power supply signal to the RF PA circuitry. The DC-DC control circuitry has a DC-DC look-up table (LUT) structure, which has at least a first DC-DC LUT. The DC-DC control circuitry uses DC-DC LUT index information as an index to the DC-DC LUT structure to obtain DC-DC converter operational control parameters. The DC-DC control circuitry then configures the PA envelope power supply using the DC-DC converter operational control parameters. Using the DC-DC LUT structure provides flexibility in configuring the DC-DC converter for different applications, for multiple static operating conditions, for multiple dynamic operating conditions, or any combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 9214865
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a flexible direct current (DC)-DC converter, which includes a charge pump buck power supply and a buck power supply. The charge pump buck power supply and the buck power supply are voltage compatible with one another at respective output inductance nodes to provide flexibility. In one embodiment of the DC-DC converter, capacitances at the output inductance nodes are at least partially isolated from one another by using at least an isolating inductive element between the output inductance nodes to increase efficiency. In an alternate embodiment of the DC-DC converter, the output inductance nodes are coupled to one another, such that the charge pump buck power supply and the buck power supply share a first inductive element, thereby eliminating the isolating inductive element, which reduces size and cost but may also reduce efficiency.
