  • Patent number: 8229029
Abstract: A transmitter includes a monitoring circuit for monitoring phase transitions of in-phase and quadrature components of an input phase modulated signal. A filter is downstream from the monitoring circuit for generating a filtered phase modulated signal within an allocated bandwidth. A transmit gain controller is downstream from the filter for adjusting an amplitude of the filtered phase modulated signal based on a dynamic reference envelope control signal. A control circuit cooperates with the monitoring circuit and the transmit gain controller for generating the dynamic reference envelope control signal so that phase transitions are suppressed in the filtered phase modulated signal and so that the filtered phase modulated signal remains within the allocated bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 7937076
Abstract: A software defined radio includes a radio circuit and an executable radio software system operable with the radio circuit and conforming to the software communications architecture (SCA) specification. An operating environment is defined and includes a plurality of waveform components that are loaded when the radio circuit is initialized or a waveform component is instantiated, and reloaded at runtime after the waveform component is instantiated for transmitting and receiving voice data.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 7, 2007
Date of Patent: May 3, 2011
    Assignee: Harris Corporation
Inventors: Scott Zeller, Daniel E. Stephens, Michael E. Wilkerson-Barker
  • Patent number: 7809410
Abstract: A software defined radio includes a radio circuit powered by a battery and formed as a pair of radio subsystems having radio components that draw power from the battery. An executable radio software system conforms to the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) specification and defines an operating platform environment that allows a waveform application to operate with the radio circuit. A power management service is operative with the pair of radio subsystems to coordinate the power among the radio components.

Date of Patent: October 5, 2010
    Assignee: Harris Corporation

  • Patent number: 7630734
Abstract: A mobile wireless communications device is switchable between a plurality of wireless communications operating modes and may include an antenna, a wireless transceiver connected to the antenna, a first memory for storing a respective compressed file for each of the plurality of wireless communications operating modes, and a second memory having a faster access speed than the first memory. The device may further include a processor connected to the wireless transceiver, the first memory, and the second memory for copying the compressed files from the first memory to the second memory, uncompressing a selected one of the compressed files to generate and store a selected compressed file in the second memory, and processing the selected uncompressed file from the second memory and controlling the wireless transceiver based thereon.
