    Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting and receiving wireless data and a method of transmitting and receiving wireless data in which a frame is transmitted via one of a plurality of channels, a response frame is received via another of the channels in return for the frame, the receive sensitivity for the frame is determined based on the response frame, and a set of TXVECTOR parameters are controlled according to the determination. The apparatus includes a media access control (MAC) unit which generates a data frame, a first physical (PHY) unit which transmits a wireless signal of the data frame via a first channel, a second PHY unit which receives a control frame comprising a receive sensitivity for the wireless signal via a second channel, and a parameter control unit which adjusts a set of TXVECTOR parameters for the data frame via the first channel based on the control frame.

The method includes obtaining transmission parameters of a transmitting station from a data transmission frame received from the transmitting station, searching a receiving station for transmission parameters which correspond to the transmission parameters of the transmitting station, determining the transmission rate of the control response frame according to transmission parameters of the receiving station if the transmission parameters corresponding to the transmission parameters of the transmitting station are found in the receiving station, and determining a maximum rate among a set of basic transmission rates to be the transmission rate of the control response frame if the transmission parameters corresponding to the transmission parameters of the transmitting station are not found in the receiving station.

    Abstract: Provided is a wireless local area network (LAN) communication method in the Distributed Coordination Function mode. The method includes (a) setting a predetermined back-off according to the characteristic of data transmitted, and (b) transmitting data if a channel is available at the end of the back-off, and updating the back-off using residual back-off when a channel is used during the back-off. The data transmission throughput can be increased by reducing the back-off according to the characteristic of data to be transmitted. An increase in the data transmission throughput is particularly effective in transmitting real-time data.
