  • Publication number: 20190026409
Abstract: Techniques for determining a proppant-area of a hydraulic fracture include identifying a fracture fluid leak-off curve that includes time-dependent pressure signal values of a first fracturing fluid in a monitor wellbore that is in fluid communication with a first hydraulic fracture formed from the monitor wellbore. Each of the time-dependent pressure signal values is a pressure change in the first fracturing fluid induced by a second hydraulic fracture from a treatment wellbore formed by a second fracturing fluid that includes proppant.

  • Publication number: 20180364277
Abstract: The atomic force microscope has evolved from purely a qualitative apparatus that measures the topography of a sample into a quantitative tool that also measures mechanical properties of a sample at the nanoscale. Prior technologies that attempt to measure the bulk parameters must characterize the geometry of the atomic force microscope cantilever tip in a separate experiment before being able to measure the mechanical properties of the sample. This is the single biggest obstruction to the accuracy and expediency of quantitative atomic force microscopy methodologies. Present techniques are also unable to probe the full set of viscoelastic properties of a material as they do not include any method to measure the damping of samples. We propose a method herein that simultaneously circumvents the need for a separate experiment to characterize the tip geometry and measures the full set of viscoelastic properties of a material.

  • Patent number: 10067169
Abstract: A method for characterizing a nonlinear system using the system's steady state response including: exciting a transducer using a plurality of frequencies while decoupled from the nonlinear system, measuring the amplitude of response of each of the frequencies while decoupled from the nonlinear system, exciting the transducer using the plurality of frequencies while coupled to the nonlinear system, measuring the amplitude of response of each of the frequencies and the second harmonic of at least some of the frequencies, and solving for a set of phenomenological parameters characterizing the dynamics of the nonlinear system.

  • Patent number: 9998446
Abstract: Systems for managing user-level security in a cloud-based service platform. A server in a cloud-based environment is configured to interface with storage devices that store objects that are accessible over a network by two or more users. An enterprise entity is identified using an enterprise identifier associated with the enterprise, and an application service is associated with an application identifier. An application service request comprising a user identifier and the application identifier is received, and authentication is determined based on the combination of the user identifier and a pre-authenticated application identifier. Once the application service request is authenticated, then specific aspects of the service request are authorized. The integrity of the application identifier is confirmed by locating a secure association of the given application identifier to a pre-shared enterprise identifier.

  • Publication number: 20170083721
Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for sustained data protection. In particular, a data protector may define a set of access levels associated with content within data using a set of access policies (e.g., a partial access level to inventory data for an inventory server, a full access level to inventory data and billing data for a shopping website server, etc.). The data protector may secure (e.g., encrypt) the data to create protected data, so that clients may be unable to access content of the protected data without obtaining access through the data protector. In this way, the data protector may selectively provide clients with access to content within the protected data according to respective access levels for the different clients (e.g., access to inventory data, but not billing data, may be provided to the inventory server by the data protector).

  • Patent number: 9537192
Abstract: A battery is provided with an associated method for transporting metal-ions in the battery using a low temperature molten salt (LTMS). The battery comprises an anode, a cathode formed from a LTMS having a liquid phase at a temperature of less than 150° C., a current collector submerged in the LTMS, and a metal-ion permeable separator interposed between the LTMS and the anode. The method transports metal-ions from the separator to the current collector in response to the LTMS acting simultaneously as a cathode and an electrolyte. More explicitly, metal-ions are transported from the separator to the current collector by creating a liquid flow of LTMS interacting with the current collector and separator.

  • Patent number: 9531003
Abstract: A method is provided for synthesizing sodium iron(II)-hexacyanoferrate(II). A Fe(CN)6 material is mixed with the first solution and either an anti-oxidant or a reducing agent. The Fe(CN)6 material may be either ferrocyanide ([Fe(CN)6]4?) or ferricyanide ([Fe(CN)6]3?). As a result, sodium iron(II)-hexacyanoferrate(II) (Na1+XFe[Fe(CN)6]Z.MH2O is formed, where X is less than or equal to 1, and where M is in a range between 0 and 7. In one aspect, the first solution including includes A ions, such as alkali metal ions, alkaline earth metal ions, or combinations thereof, resulting in the formation of Na1+XAYFe[Fe(CN)6]Z.MH2O, where Y is less than or equal to 1. Also provided are a Na1+XFe[Fe(CN)6]Z.MH2O battery and Na1+XFe[Fe(CN)6]Z.MH2O battery electrode.
